The Digital Modernization Sector has a career opportunity for a ServiceNow Database Administrator supporting the Global Solutions Management – Operations II (GSM-O II) contract at DISA. This contract includes the Operations, Sustainment, Maintenance, Repair, and Defense of the Defense Information System Network (DISN) within the DOD Information Network (DODIN) in support of the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). It also includes support to other key tasks for DISA, including the transformation of DISA’s operational mission through innovation, and support to DISA’s mission partners.
Candidate must be able to be on site at Fort Meade, Scott AFB, Hill AFB daily, or San Antonio TX. At a minimum, a Secret clearance is required upon the start of employment and within 14 days following the start date the employee must obtain their Security + certification.
As ServiceNow Database Administrator you will perform tasks relating to Database Management System (DBMS) applications, including definition, design, structure, documentation, upgrades, long-range requirements, operational guidelines, and protection. Duties include database modeling and design, relational database architecture, metadata and repository creation. Uses data mapping, data mining and data transformational analysis tools to design and develop databases. Support duties may include entering and reviewing data within the database, ensuring user data integrity, maintaining database support tools, database tables and dictionaries, recovery and back-up procedures, and making recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements. The candidate will work with external and internal stakeholders to understand, propose, and deliver digital transformation solutions with emphasis on the Relational Database Services (RDS) of AWS. Reviews legacy database and database structures to determine best processes for a new way forward.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support the standup, configuration and implementation of ServiceNow’s environments and containerization
- Designing schema, access patterns, locking strategy, SQL development, and tuning.
- Modifying the database structures as required.
- Optimizing application and end-user queries (reactive tuning) and archiving data
- Generates needed ad hoc reports by querying from the database
- Performs Proactive performance tuning
- Control user access to the database and enrolling users and maintaining system security.
- Secure database privileged credentials (SYSDBA or SYSTEM for Oracle; sa for SQL Server)
- Review Parameter configuration and tuning, cache management, and job scheduling
- Monitor performance metrics, response times, request rates with alerts and logs
- Ensure compliance with database vendor license agreement
- Allocate system storage and planning future storage requirements for the database system
- Install and upgrading the database software
- Performs data backups
- Create, manage, and monitor high-availability (HA) systems
- Patch the software that powers your database
- Troubleshooting DB errors and potentially contacting vendors for technical support
Basic Qualifications
- Requires a US Citizenship.
- Hold and active security certification that meets DOD 8570 IAT level II or higher (i.e., Security+) within 14 days of hire
- Must hold or be able to obtain an active DoD Secret clearance.
- Must be able to commute to Scott AFB, IL, Ft. Meade, MD, or Ogden, UT for full time on-site support
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 8-12 years of professional experience; or 6-10 years of professional experience with a related Master’s degree. Additional experience may be excepted in lieu of degree.
- At least 3 years of experience with the design, development, and support of Oracle and AWS databases.
- At least 2 years of ServiceNow support.
- Experience with database upgrades.
- The qualified candidate shall have excellent customer service skills and the ability to work independently, prioritize, schedule, and complete multiple tasks.
- Ability to multi-task and self-assign work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills that enable proactive and effective collaboration with a virtual team, including the ability to clearly articulate status and present to both customers and program leadership.
- Candidate shall have the ability to develop and present management level briefings.
- Demonstrate potential and willingness to learn and adapt to rapid changes in technology.
Preferred Qualifications
- ServiceNow Certified Application Developer
- Experience or familiarity with Agile development and testing methodology
- Exposure to ServiceNow applications like Telecommunication Management System (TSM), Telecommunications Network Inventory (TNI), Order Management Telecommunications (OMT) modules, etc.
- Experience with JIRA, Git and Confluence.
- Understanding of ITIL foundation or ITIL certified.
- AWS cloud and ServiceNow certifications.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline
- Experience working with large software systems including hardware integration and test.
- Experience working with multi-disciplinary technical development teams.
- Experience moving from a legacy application to a new application.
- Experience implementing AWS and Oracle databases.
- Experience with DevOps/DevSecOps and CI/CD implementation.

Pay Range:Pay Range $104,650.00 - $189,175.00
