USC Online is seeking a Senior Web Developer to join our technology team. This role ensures seamless technological experiences for our students, staff, and faculty. The successful candidate will have strong technical knowledge and experience with object-oriented programming, web servers/hosting, web applications, programming languages, web content management systems, data management & ETL processing, and usability engineering. This position requires a blend of technical acuity, customer service excellence, and a passion for education technology.
Responsibilities

Leads the development efforts and provides architectural guidance for migrating existing product features to cloud-based platforms.

Establishes project plans and schedules, identifies staffing and resource requirements.

Monitors progress, providing status reports as needed. Reviews the work of other developers.

Designs and implements complex web, data, and back-end systems with minimal direction.

Establishes and communicates best practices and design patterns for use within the department.

Discusses new features with designers, stakeholders, and other university teams, giving input on what is technically feasible and evaluating the impact of the changes.

Leads the resolution of programming and data-related technical support issues.

Resolves bugs found in code or upstream data feeds.

Maintains/updates program libraries, user manuals, and/or technical documentation, as needed.

Identifies and implements protocols and procedures to ensure security.

Provides leadership, guidance, and direction to junior-level staff.

Participates in customer support on-call rotation.
Experience and Skills Required

ASP.NET MVC 5, C#, EF, Bootstrap, Telerik Kendo MVC, LINQ & MSSQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript

REST APIs
-
SQL Server Integration Services ETL processing, Azure Data Factory, and/or Pipelines

CI/CD build & release pipelines (Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions)

Familiarity with WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility and design requirements

Knowledge of Single Sign-On systems and multifactor authentication processes.

Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with various stakeholders, including students, staff, faculty, and external partners.
Desired Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Education Technology, or related field.

Previous experience in a support role within an educational or technology-focused organization.

Previous experience with Salesforce, Apex development

Previous experience with WordPress and/or PHP

The annual base salary range for this position is $99,043.25 - $131,871.00. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree, Combined work experience and education as equivalent
