The Sr. Vice President, MIL/GOV Sales and Business Development – North America at Satcom Direct Government has the primary responsibility of developing and executing strategic sales plans to drive revenue growth, market penetration, and customer satisfaction across our military and government North American portfolio. This role requires a dynamic leader with extensive experience in business development, USG Sales, and implementing systematic sales processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, exceptional commercial acumen, and a proven track record of delivering results and accomplishing growth targets in the aerospace and defense industry.

How will you make a difference? 

  • Lead annual strategic sales plan development for all business units in North America
  • Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies to achieve revenue and billings targets for the group
  • Identify and pursue new market opportunities and customer segments as needed
  • Implement business development processes including, marketing campaigns, pipeline management and analytics, gate reviews, new product or partnership business cases, etc…
  • Liaise with all SD Government shared resources and Corporate functional resources to ensure effective communication
  • Create and maintain strong relationship with partners and key customers as needed by Strategic Development Director and Business Unit Directors
  • Leverage business relationships to drive additional growth for the US and Canada
  • Prepare strategic plans and presentations for executive level review and discussion
  • Build sales playbook adapted for the US Government market
  • Organize and execute sales team trainings and events for development of personnel
  • Establish a culture for accountability and high-performing results-oriented sales staff
  • Responsible for resources and budget management for marketing, training, staffing, etc…
  • Continuously coordinate with SD Gov & Gogo program management, engineering, and product management to ensure product requirements desired by the USG customers are communicated and accounted for within Gogo’s product roadmap. The role must be a vigilant and a constant advocate for the external customer requirements 
  • Strive to be an expert on SD Government Products and Services 
  • Possess the ability to assess the competitive landscape and successfully position SD Governments products ahead of similar competitive products in the market 
  • Provide information for management by preparing short-term and long-term product sales forecasts reporting on key risks and opportunities to the business 
  • Responsible for shaping requirements on RFPs from the Customer and develop comprehensive capture planning and proposal execution to ensure high quality proposal submissions
  • Work with other SD Government senior leadership team, sharing data and information, to reach collective sales goals and targets of the company as a whole 
  • Manage, develop, motivate, and coach a dynamic sales team and business unit leaders

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience is required 
  • 12-15 years’ experience in the Aerospace & Defense industry in sales and business development
  • 7+ years' experience managing, coaching, and developing a team 
  • Substantial travel for team meetings, trade shows, and customer functions is required (up to 50%, including international) 
  • Must have secret security clearance or must be eligible to obtain one

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Experience 

  • Proven experience growing revenue direct to USG end-users
  • Demonstrated experience in researching, writing and responding to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) 
  • Proven experience in developing, tracking and reporting on annual sales forecasts and sales pipeline 
  • Deep knowledge of US Government procurement rules and regulations
  • Strong command of USG sales and business development process and methods
  • Ability to mediate and negotiate; dynamic, motivated, persuasive and goal motivated
  • Passion for mentoring, and coaching diverse teams 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Experience 

  • Previous military experience is desired, but not required
  • Effective communication skills 
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with cross-functional teams 
  • Possess experience in public speaking and be comfortable in a board room setting delivering to senior executives both internally and externally to the customer

Base Pay:

200,000.00 - 250,000.00 USD Annual
