Senior Vice President, Corporate Strategic Advisory
Padilla is seeking a Senior Vice President to serve as a key leader in our Corporate Strategic Advisory sector based in our Minneapolis office. This leadership role will develop and execute communication strategies for existing corporate clients and broaden Padilla’s corporate portfolio across a broad range of sectors, including technology, healthcare, financial services, and food & beverage.
The ideal candidate is well-versed in corporate communications, crisis and reputation management and has served a broad base of clients, including global corporations, and has a proven track record of success in winning new business and can understand the business impact of communications strategies.
The successful candidate will display the following qualities:
- Exceptional leadership and counseling abilities: Ability to lead clients – which often includes the C-suite – with authority, diplomacy and candor. And the ability to successfully mentor and lead teams.
- Strong business acumen – The ideal candidate will be able to embrace subject matter that may range from financial and accounting concepts to compliance and regulatory issues, to operational and HR challenges.
- Communications practitioner: Exceptional ability to gauge the communications needs of clients and develop fully integrated, measurable programs.
- Effective business development: Proven ability to network and grow business in a professional services setting.
- Highly collaborative: Ability to work with cross-functional teams to develop creative approaches, leveraging Padilla’s broader talent and resources.
RESPONSIBILITIES
New Business Development
- Key contributor to the preparation and implementation of annual business development and marketing plan, including revenue, profit, and billability goals.
- Create and execute a plan to grow revenues and expand the scope of services within current and future Padilla accounts by presenting and selling ideas, offering cross-agency tools, solutions, and expertise, and closing on incremental new business each year.
- Active and aggressive prospecting to a network/new business pipeline of key influencers and leaders who have the authority to make PR firm hiring decisions.
- Exhibit forethought in proposing, developing, and implementing new program strategies and tactics for clients to support their evolving business needs.
- Oversee, plan, and manage budgets and allocate timelines and people resources to meet aggressive client growth goals.
- Promote Padilla by being active in external organizations and participating in events.
- Demonstrate a high rate of success in persuasively selling new ideas that will likely achieve client business objectives and teach others how to do the same.
- Assist in developing and marketing new CSA service line offerings built on the agency’s expertise and scalable to a wide range of clients and prospects.
Client Service
- Provide expert, high-value advice and guidance to senior leaders, C-Suite and colleagues regarding the business impact of communications strategies, crisis and reputation management.
- Respond to difficult or complex client circumstances, resolve sensitive situations, mediate conflicts and negotiate successful outcomes.
- Stay current and informed on a broad range of new developments in communications strategy and implementation, including emerging technology in industry sectors related to corporate advisory and our agency.
- Demonstrate an exceptional ability to analyze data and complex situations and develop and manage the implementation of creative and effective solutions on behalf of clients.
- Address financial issues that impact accounts, including managing difficult ARs, monitoring the performance of accounts, etc.
Team Management
- Active participation in the development, training, and advancement of staff to ensure they are evolving and staying on the leading edge of our industry.
- Demonstrate superior ability to manage high-value accounts, be responsive to issues/concerns, and identify growth opportunities.
- Consistently set an exceptional leadership example in following best practices when supervising/coaching individuals and managing teams.
- Motivate all team members to perform at their highest level.
Strategic Planning
- Provide senior leadership to the teams serving the agency’s corporate accounts. This includes annual planning, campaign development, client counsel, team resourcing and overall client satisfaction.
- Expand client base and practice area beyond existing clients by demonstrating industry thought leadership and gaining the trust and confidence of community and market-sector influencers and decision-makers.
- Help establish goals to maximize growth and expand services with existing clients within corporate expectations for revenue and profit.
REQUIREMENTS
- 15+ years of related experience in communications, public relations, marketing, advertising or business; agency experience required
- 8 or more years of management experience that includes financial, profitability oversight and extensive new business development
- Business acumen, including an understanding of operational and market challenges facing companies of all types -- public and private, startups to global companies,
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful communications strategies
- Exceptional writing and communication skills
- Leadership experience in an agency setting
- Demonstrated skill at building, leading and inspiring teams
- Ability to work in the office a minimum of three days per week
- Ability to travel as needed
