At MCG, we lead the healthcare community to deliver patient-focused care. We have a mission-driven team of talented physicians and technical experts developing our evidence-based content and innovating our products to accelerate improvements in healthcare. If you are driven to enhance the US healthcare system, MCG is eager to have you join our team. We cultivate a work environment that nurtures personal and professional growth, and this is a thrilling time to become a part of our organization. With dynamic roles that offer meaningful impact, you'll be able to fully realize your potential. Plus, you'll enjoy world-class benefits and the security, stability, and resources of our parent company, Hearst, with over 100 years of experience.
As a Senior Technical Project Manager you will be responsible for coordinating the diverse activities required to bring data science products to production. You will navigate evolving roadmaps for many different interesting and important projects that compete for resources. You will work with data scientists, engineers, clinicians and stakeholders to find the best paths forward across projects considering their different goals.
Within a project, first and foremost, you will be responsible for deeply understanding the effort: the requested work, the stakeholder goals, and the resources available for the project. Using that understanding, you will be responsible for developing a coherent execution plan, ensuring that plan stays on track and evolves with the project, and communicating throughout. There will be many important facets to this work (project documentation, Gantt charts, etc.) but the key indicators of success are the project’s outcome and the experience of the participants.
You will:
- Define project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business objectives.
- Develop full-scale project plans and associated communication documents.
- Lead the planning and implementation of project schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
- Manage day-to-day delivery aspects of a project and scope including planning, scheduling, and mitigation of risks and challenges.
- Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders.
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
- Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
- Identify required resources, assign and track tasks and responsibilities.
- Work across multiple engineering teams to deliver on new features.
- Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
- Identify the primary risks and constraints during planning. Prepare ahead of time for any necessary dependencies and design the work effort to clear risks as early as possible.
- Ensure project deliverables are created with quality sufficient for their intended use and designed to allow for future flexibility and/or broader adoption.
- Adapt and apply the appropriate project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) to facilitate project success.
- Continuously look for ways to improve processes, workflows, and communications.
- Proactively manage stakeholder communication and ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
- Apply excellent verbal and written communication skills to accurately articulate project status and risks across teams up to an Executive-level audience.
- Be the liaison between the internal teams. Ensuring mind share and planning for a positive, low-friction collaboration.
- Assess the impact of priority changes, communicate those impacts, and keep the affected project plans up to date.
- Attend engineering refinement and planning meetings to clarify and vet acceptance criteria and requirements.
- Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
- Draft and submit budget proposals and recommend subsequent budget change
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related field is preferred.
- Project management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is preferred.
- +6 years of experience as a Technical Project Manager or related role.

- Familiarity with Agile principles and ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily standup, demos, and retrospectives, especially within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
- Experience working with Jira and Confluence.
- Experience working with Data Science or Data Engineering teams preferred
- Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
- Self-motivated and take the initiative to solve problems and deliver on new initiatives.
- Strive to be an ideal team player.
