Position Summary:
Kemper is looking for a highly talented individual to join our Tax Department based in our Chicago office. More specifically, we seek a Senior Tax Analyst, who will work closely with teammates supporting GAAP and insurance Statutory financial reporting by preparing and reviewing income tax provisions, participating in projects, and performing accounting and tax research. This role will also support other Tax Department activities and be involved with ongoing efforts to transform how the Tax Department delivers value to the organization.
Position Responsibilities:
- Prepare workpapers and support GAAP and insurance Statutory tax provisions
- Record tax provisions
- Support tax compliance function, including preparing tax returns
- Prepare written documentation
- Perform ledger reconciliations
- Lead and implement technology and/or process improvements to improve tax department operations
- Conduct accounting and tax research and analysis
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field
- 3+ years of relevant tax experience
- Strong technical writing skills
- Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Technology driven (experience with Alteryx, Tableau and Corptax preferred)
- Working knowledge of and experience with ASC 740; experience with SSAP 101 preferred
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Detail-oriented, organized with excellent problem-solving skills
- Effective written and oral communication skills
