Position Summary:

 

Kemper is looking for a highly talented individual to join our Tax Department based in our Chicago office. More specifically, we seek a Senior Tax Analyst, who will work closely with teammates preparing and reviewing federal and state income tax returns, participating in projects, and performing tax research.  This role will be involved with ongoing efforts to transform how the Tax Department delivers value to the organization.

 

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field
  • 3+ years of relevant tax experience
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Technology driven (experience with Alteryx, Tableau, Onesource Income Tax and Corptax preferred)
  • Working knowledge of and experience with ASC 740 and SSAP 101 preferred
  • Ability to work oral independently and within a team environment
  • Detail-oriented, organized with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Effective written and communication skills

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Prepare income tax compliance workpapers, statements, elections and schedules
  • Operate and manage income tax compliance platform (Onesource)
  • Improve qualitative and quantitative aspects of income tax compliance processes
  • Prepare written documentation
  • Support tax reporting function., including preparing income tax provisions
  • Assist with other tax department deliverables
  • Lead and implement technology and/or process improvements to improve tax department operations
  • Conduct research and analysis

The range for this position is $68,000 to $113,400. When determining candidate offers, we consider experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location among other factors. This job is also eligible for our Kemper benefits package (Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, 401k, etc.
