About the Role:
As a Senior Systems Engineer at a global financial technology company, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring FactSet’s infrastructure and systems operate seamlessly. This role offers the unique combination of working independently within a flexible environment while collaborating with a supportive team focused on growth, innovation, and knowledge-sharing.
You will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing new systems, as well as improving existing ones. Additionally, you will provide solutions to complex technical challenges, acting as a key point of contact for systems-related issues. This role encompasses application management, system configuration, optimization, and database administration. You’ll collaborate directly with the Technology & Business Consulting teams in conjunction with the Enterprise Hosting & Architecture teams to drive FactSet’s technological evolution.
Responsibilities:
- Configure and setup our enterprise applications during implementation, provide continuous support and change management.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve escalated client issues to ensure applications meet customer expectations, including data integrity and performance.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including development, account management, and support, to drive issue resolution and implement changes.
- Monitor and enhance infrastructure to optimize service hosting and availability.
- Research, document, and update processes.
- Support FactSet’s 24/7 global infrastructure and ensure prompt responses to critical incidents.
Requirements for the role
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Unix Shell, MS-DOS batch scripts, or equivalent).
- Strong SQL skills (e.g., PL/SQL, T-SQL) and database administration experience (Oracle, MS SQL, PostgreSQL, Amazon Aurora).
- Solid understanding of system administration, including configuration, performance tuning, and security.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Familiarity with J2EE (JMS, JMX), XML, and web services (SOAP, REST).
- Strong problem-solving skills, especially for technical performance issues.
- Hands-on experience with DevOps tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence).
- Knowledge of network concepts, including firewalls, VPNs, Citrix, and Netscaler.
- Project management and coordination skills for technical initiatives.
- Proven ability to manage client relationships and effectively handle escalated issues.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interface with stakeholders at all levels.
- Financial services knowledge, particularly in market finance, asset or wealth management, is a plus.
