Leidos seeks a Senior Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support NASA’s Integrated Operations Center (NIOC). The SME will serve as a Tier 3 support specialist, providing advanced technical expertise and operational leadership to the NIOC operations floor. This individual will also be critical in networking, telephony, and operator training, ensuring clear and effective communication with NASA leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
• Act as Tier 3 support for NIOC operations, diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues impacting communications systems and networks.
• Oversee and manage networking systems with expertise in Juniper and Cisco technologies.
• Support and maintain telephony infrastructure critical to NASA’s communication systems.
• Train and mentor operators, ensuring proficiency in operational processes and technical systems.
• Collaborate with NASA leadership, providing regular updates, recommendations, and insights to align communication operations with organizational goals.
• Contribute to designing, implementing, and optimizing communication and networking systems to enhance reliability and performance.
• Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies in networking and communications to maintain system excellence.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• At least 8 years of experience in networking, with a focus on Juniper and Cisco Systems.
• Must be able to grasp a wide range of unique skills, able to think and respond quickly to real-time dataflow problems.
• Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP technology including IP addressing, subnet masking.
• Knowledge of troubleshooting network issues in both a LAN and large WAN environment which includes firewalls and network taps.
• Ability to use standard networking troubleshooting tools, eg. BERTS, iPerf, Wireshark.
• Working knowledge of all tools in the Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio).
• Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
• Strong knowledge of telephony systems and communications infrastructure.
• Proven experience in providing Tier 3 support for complex technical environments.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with NASA leadership and cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated ability to train and mentor personnel in technical and operational domains.
• US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Qualification:
• Experience in a government or aerospace environment, particularly with NASA systems
• Industry certifications in networking, eg. Juniper, Cisco CCNA or CCNP
• Familiarity with operational support procedures for high-stakes mission environments

Pay Range:Pay Range $89,700.00 - $162,150.00
