At Accelya, a Release Manager will handle the lifecycle of changes/releases that begin with branch management and goes all the way to actual release into the final environment. While the breadth and depth of a Release Manager role is wide, our vision of what a successful Release Manager will be revolves around the ability of the candidate to coordinate releases/changes from start to finish. This is characterized by releases/changes having many stakeholders, working with these stakeholders to ensure that a release/change is progressing appropriately, package management, and customer communications.
Any individual seeking to be a Release Manager at Accelya, must be self-driven for being successful in the role. At the heart of release management at Accelya, is that release management procedures are understood as a mantra, and for the Release Manager to drive those procedures forward with precision around releases/changes. Having a background in project coordination of the moving pieces around technical projects is highly desired and beneficial for any potential candidate. This is an atypical Release Manager role, where focus is on every aspect of the release/change in the deployment lifecycle, not just the final deployment into the final intended environment. From deployment package creation, testing, coordinating and executing defined processes and procedures, working with the different stakeholders, there are many facets behind a release manager role.
Attention to detail is critical in bringing value from the release manager perspective. A person who has strength in dealing with many stakeholders in a project, meeting, or other setting would be desired. Understanding and appreciating the importance of executing all procedures around a release/change with meticulousness is a value-add. Consistent follow through on the steps needed to progress a release/change, including issue management and change management, is important. Good communication skills are critical, but also knowing when and what to communicate is of equal importance.
