The Opportunity
Abbott is looking for a Senior Solutions Architect to work within Abbott’s Digital Products and Services group. As a Solutions Architect, you will provide critical thought leadership and direction to push the limits of technology design and innovation across Abbott’s global businesses.
This role will design and implement cutting edge technology solutions, mentor engineers and will act as an evangelist in technology architectures and ways of working. With a focus on providing senior technical leadership, this role will be a key influencer of Abbott’s next generation of IoT, Microservices, API, Data and Cloud Computing technology products and services.
What You’ll Work On
- Collaborate with other Engineers and Architects to influence and establish engineering best practices through solid design decisions, processes and tools. Set goals, strategies, and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple technologies.
- Work across product teams to architect, build and design next-generation technology platforms.
- Utilize in-depth knowledge of software engineering, cloud technologies and data engineering, to define target architectures, patterns and processes.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring of engineering teams, working closely with architects and business leaders.
- Develop multi-year product roadmaps, provide the vision and work with individual architects to translate this into a tactical engineering blueprint.
- Lead tool and technology selection. Drive standardization and reuse of industry leading technology across the organization.
- Drive continuous process and technology improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- +10 years of Software Engineering experience. Experience in building/implementing high performance & scalable server-side applications.
- Technical leadership skills in driving architecture, helping with technical trade-offs, and driving best practices.
- Advanced-level knowledge of 2 or more of the following technologies: mobile/web frameworks, multi cloud, security and privacy, IoT, event streaming, distributed system design, microservices, containerization, APIs, SOA, and/or messaging

- Master’s Degree preferred
- Strong communication Skills
- You have high standards for quality and attention to detail
- Self-starter and enthusiastic personality who can work well both independently and as a team member

The base pay for this position is
$125,300.00 – $250,700.00
