The Opportunity
The Sr. Software Systems Engineer works out of our St. Paul, MN location in the Electrophysiology Division. This is a fully onsite role.
In Abbott’s Electrophysiology (EP) business, we’re advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.
We are recruiting for a Senior Software Systems Engineer to join our software integration team. In this technical role, you will be a critical contributor in the development and deployment of software solutions to support our development programs and building compelling products within Abbott’s Electrophysiology Division.
What You’ll Work On
- Work with other engineers on the software team and cross-functionally to develop workflow tests and identify software defects prior to releasing the software
- Assist in investigating, prioritizing and fixing software defects, including issues that arise in the field
- Participate and contribute to use case and requirements reviews during feature definition
- Develop protocols to test new and existing algorithms, which may involve writing scripts
- Work cross-functionally to determine appropriate system level behavior and system integration during development
- Develop clinically relevant testing, which may involve communicating with clinical specialists to understand workflows
Education And Experience You'll Bring
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Biomedical, Electrical, Mechanical) or related discipline
- Minimum 6 years of experience in related industry, preferably medical devices
- Strong problem solving skills
- Experience with system level testing of medical devices, preferably cardiac mapping systems
- Experience developing test protocols
- Basic coding knowledge and experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to communicate to all levels of the organization
Preferred Experience
- Master’s Degree in Engineering (Biomedical), Computer Science, or related discipline
- 2+ years of experience in Electrophysiology, with strong understanding of system level testing
- Proficient in C++, Qt, Python, Software Test Automation, Unit Testing, Static Code Analysis, Continuous Integration tools, and DevOps

The base pay for this position is
$75,300.00 – $150,700.00
