The Opportunity
We are looking for Software Engineers to join engineering at Root. In this role, you will work closely with peers on a team within a product domain. You’ll play a key role in solving customer and business problems in collaboration with your teammates.
We are very excited to build out our team as there are multiple open roles in Onboarding Experience, Policy, Billing, Servicing, Claims, Profiles, and Market Carrier Management teams!

Salary Range: $133,784 - $155,000 (Bonus and LTI Eligible)

Write, test, and deploy software solutions that are accurate and resilient

What You Will Need to Succeed

3+ years as a software engineer
-
An eagerness to work closely with your team in a collaborative environment

Curiosity in clearly defining the customer problem that needs to be solved

Excellent communication skills both with engineering colleagues and team stakeholders
Bonus if You Have

Familiarity in Ruby on Rails or equivalent

Familiarity with React, TypeScript or Javascript

Experience with payments/billing systems

Familiarity in observability, such as Datadog

Familiarity modifying, maintaining, and consuming from APIs

Experience with AWS

This fully embedded product experience—from quote to payment—happens entirely within the Carvana checkout process. Teams from both Carvana and Root have worked for months to build this bold technology platform. An early iteration involved 24 screens in the customer experience flow—that experience is now just three straightforward steps.
