The Opportunity
DAT is looking for a Senior Software Engineer - PHP/Laravel to join our team in Bangalore, India.
Position Overview
We are seeking a driven, Senior Software Engineer with expertise in modern PHP to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining robust, scalable, and high-performance SaaS solutions for the freight and logistics industry. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping our technology stack, system design, contributing to the success of our projects, and mentoring your fellow engineers. You will work on exciting new projects, as well as upgrading, modernizing, and scaling existing older projects. If working with huge amounts of geospatial data, driver route tracking, navigation, and helping freight get delivered all over North America excites you, this role is for you! We are currently exploring machine learning and large language models for projects later this year too.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain Laravel monolith API applications, as well as microservices.
- Write modern, clean, efficient, and well-documented code while adhering to coding standards and best practices.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize software applications to ensure optimal performance.
- Lead and mentor junior developers, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
- Help us build our best products, tackle exciting engineering challenges as we scale
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer with a focus on PHP development.
- Expertise in PHP and strong experience with Symfony or Laravel frameworks.
- Solid understanding of OOP, dependency injection, and IoC containers.
- Experience with database technologies such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or NoSQL DBs.
- Expertise with software development best practices, including SOLID principles, design patterns, and unit testing.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Able to design and build secure, scalable, performant services
- AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure experience
- Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in PHP development and apply best practices.

Nice to Have, Not Required:
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with serverless, lambdas, or fargate
- Experience with infrastructure as code such as CloudFormation or Terraform
- Experience optimizing MySQL queries and database design
- Experience with RESTful API development.
- Knowledge of continuous integration and deployment processes.
- Knowledge of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.
- Contribution to open-source projects or a strong GitHub profile.

A Senior Software Engineer will be successful in this role when they
