WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT TO US
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will become part of the Valuation & Market Data product area within SimCorp's Product Division, responsible for delivering functionality that enables clients to make investment decisions with our back-office applications.
The Valuation & Market Data product area consists of four teams spread across several geographical locations.
You will contribute across all stages of the development lifecycle, including creating and reviewing user stories, designing, coding, testing, writing automated tests, performing code reviews, and providing support.
The ideal candidate should have C# expertise, a passion for delivering high-quality, scalable software, and an eagerness to learn APL (A Programming Language). Prior experience with APL isn’t required—we provide comprehensive training and a supportive environment to help you succeed. Most development is done using APL, with occasional C# tasks. Our company also partly owns Dyalog APL, ensuring the language remains actively maintained and relevant.
WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
You will be using multiple technologies, and your responsibilities will also include:
- Working with a team of software engineers in the design, development, and maintenance of software applications
- Design, and implement robust and efficient APL and C# code (occasionally)
- Working with product management to refine new features
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and define software requirements
- Developing core functionality to support the business modules
- Ensuring software quality through comprehensive testing and validation
- Conduct code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices
- Writing and maintaining unit tests to ensure software quality and reliability
- Maintaining the existing code base
- Constantly learning and developing yourself and our product
WHAT WE VALUE
- 3 – 5 years of experience in financial domain - fintech
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics, Physics, or any other academic degree with a passion for software development
- Proficiency in English, written as well as spoken, as English is our corporate language
- A high sense of quality, ability to work to deadlines, attention to detail and taking ownership of delivering a sound solution
- Genuine willingness to learn and to dig into unknown areas
- A desire to constantly deliver value to the clients, to improve yourself and the team
- You are interested and able to work with complex architecture
- Understanding the Lean Agile practices, values and principles allow you to better understand how we work
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Furthermore, we value that you:
- Are motivated to work within the financial domain
- Have strong collaboration and communication skills and fluency in English (written and spoken)
- Are willing to acquire other technical and programming skills
- Have the desire to develop and maintain automated tests, underlying frameworks, and their integration into CI/CD pipelines
- Actively learn through experimentation when tackling the latest problems, using experiences from both successes and failures
- Can introduce new ways of looking at problems and that you can take creative ideas and put them into practice
- Are able to work in a hybrid setup (virtual and physical work environments)
