Senior Software Engineer

In this role, you will primarily work with Ruby on Rails for back-end development, and react for front-end development, demonstrating an exceptional level of expertise. Your strong understanding of relational databases such as PostgreSQL will also be instrumental to our team.

Your Responsibilities

• Architect, build and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Ruby on Rails and React code.
• Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conceptualize, design and prototype new features.
• Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain a high-quality code culture.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers

Qualifications

• MS/BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject.
• Proven work experience as a Senior Software Engineer.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming.
• Proficient in Ruby on Rails and experience with React and frontend development.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and a deep understanding of relational databases.
• Experience with creating database schemas that represent and support business processes.
• Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application.
• Able to implement automated testing platforms and unit tests.
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git.
• Familiarity with continuous integration.

Operational Details

• Job location is based at Scion’s Chicago corporate headquarters.
• Working hours consist of standard daytime business hours.

The base salary range for this full-time position is $120,000-$145,000 + bonus + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
