Your Opportunity
We are looking for a passionate, dedicated Senior Software Engineer who is excited about working with the latest technologies and building innovative products. In this role, you will primarily work with Ruby on Rails for back-end development, and react for front-end development, demonstrating an exceptional level of expertise. Your strong understanding of relational databases such as PostgreSQL will also be instrumental to our team.

Your Responsibilities
- Architect, build and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Ruby on Rails and React code.
- Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conceptualize, design and prototype new features.
- Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems.
- Participate in code reviews to maintain a high-quality code culture.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers

Qualifications
- MS/BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject.
- Proven work experience as a Senior Software Engineer.
- Solid understanding of object-oriented programming.
- Proficient in Ruby on Rails and experience with React and frontend development.
- Experience with PostgreSQL and a deep understanding of relational databases.
- Experience with creating database schemas that represent and support business processes.
- Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application.
- Able to implement automated testing platforms and unit tests.
- Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git.
- Familiarity with continuous integration.
Operational Details
- Job location is based at Scion’s Chicago corporate headquarters.
- Working hours consist of standard daytime business hours.
