Boston Dynamics seeks a highly motivated and experienced Software Test Engineer to develop, maintain, and execute tests for the Stretch robot. This individual will be pivotal in designing, developing, and deploying advanced automated testing solutions for cutting-edge robotics. The role involves aligning stakeholders, formulating strategies for continuous testing processes, and ensuring consistent translation of requirements into sustainable tests. Collaboration with Robotics engineers, SQA engineers, and Platform engineers is essential to establish a framework for software development excellence at Boston Dynamics.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop, manage, and enhance test infrastructure and test management programs for robotic systems.

Utilize test automation frameworks, including Selenium and Appium.

Write and maintain code to support critical testing software for developers and test engineers, with an emphasis on robotic simulation and hardware-in-the-loop testing.

Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins and GitLab CI.

Demonstrate a strong understanding of modern automated testing practices within the software development lifecycle.

Create and maintain technical test documentation and test dashboards to monitor software stability.

Conduct performance and load testing to ensure software scalability and reliability.

Develop clean, efficient, and maintainable code in C++ and Python.

Manage automated test infrastructure throughout its lifecycle, encompassing requirements analysis, design, implementation, deployment, and adoption.

Engage with colleagues to identify and address technical challenges.

Utilize test management software such as Jama and TestRail.
Required Technical Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.

Minimum of ten years of experience as a Software Test Engineer or in a related role.

Expert proficiency in Python and shell programming, with intermediate experience in JavaScript, TypeScript, or comparable web development languages.

Familiarity with C++ is advantageous.

Prior experience with robotics simulation and/or firmware is preferred.

Experience with CI/CD tools, including Jenkins, buildkite and GitLab CI.

Experience with simulation software like Gazebo.

Experience with Git and GitHub for codebase management, tool development, and continuous integration applications, preferably Bazel and BuildKite.

Experience with data analysis tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker, Datadog).

Proficiency in Linux systems, including performance tuning, networking, and virtualization.

A strong interest in developing infrastructure for peer developers.
