As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll be responsible for shaping the evolution of the system by contributing to end-to-end design, implementation, and delivery, with opportunities to learn more about API development and systems integration. You will play a pivotal part in our StepPay product and its backend platform, supporting and leading robust, secure and highly scalable design solutions.

The CBA technology unit delivers the best digital banking services to Commonwealth Bank customers and to do so is responsible for digital delivery, group data and analytics, technology and technology infrastructure, cyber, fraud, physical security and business resilience for all divisions across CBA. It is also dedicated to delivering the best workplace technology experience for our over 53.000 people across CBA and focused on providing the latest tools, technology, and resources to enhance the way we work together and empower our people to achieve more for our customers.
This role will see you join our Simple Credit Software Engineering Chapter, a centre of excellence within the Retail Technology space and play an integral part in the purpose and success of CommBank. We are responsible for delivering an exceptional customer experience across all digital touch points.
This chapter is responsible for building sophisticated credit products that differentiate CBA in a market overburdened by replicas. Your skills in cloud and backend engineering will help CBA deliver intuitive, best-practice designs, and enable you to work closely with our architects and vendors to securely integrate with downstream systems.

Provide extensive experience in developing applications using Microsoft technologies such as C#, ASP.Net and .Net Core.

Have an excellent understanding of microservices architecture and restful API design patterns.

Apply best-practice security techniques to web applications and APIs.

Can develop scalable and secure enterprise applications capable of handling high traffic.

Can design innovative solutions to solve complicated problems as part of a cross-functional squad.

Ensure our technical approach is sound, fit-for-purpose, and well architected.

Support and drive deployments and critical desing solutions across AWS (Amazon Web Services) environments through our continuous delivery pipelines.

Utilise AI technologies and tooling to enhance engineering workflows.
Tech skills:
We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to possess knowledge of all, but experience or exposure with some, or their equivalents, will set you up for success in this team;

Expert in SDLC and Agile methods with broader experience around architecture, design, implementation, deployment, integration, and technology transformations.

Demonstrated experience developing applications using Microsoft technologies such as C#, Asp.Net and .Net Core.

Excellent understanding of microservices architecture and restful API design patterns.

Familiarity with containerisation and public cloud engineering e.g AWS – desirable.

Event based application models with Kafka – desirable.

Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Oracle, and NoSQL DBs.

Can troubleshoot complex technical issues involving multiple system components.

Familiar with utilisation of AI tools for software engineering and stays up to date with the latest.
