As a Senior Fullstack Engineer in Team Maverick, you’ll be at the forefront of Smartly’s transformation, building tools and frameworks that accelerate new ad platform adoption. Our team focuses on backend unification, providing automation features, and developing frameworks to ensure a unified user experience across multiple ad platforms. Currently, Maverick is working on expanding to new channels, providing tools and core functionalities that are usable within all channels.
Our team is comprised of engineers, a product manager, a designer, and an engineering manager, with support from additional contractors and temporary team members. We are a fullstack, independent team, so collaboration and communication with engineers, product managers, and designers are essential.
We are technology agnostic and always strive to choose the best tools for the job. On the backend, our favored stack is Node.js in combination with TypeScript usually coupled with PostgreSQL and Redis, as well as RabbitMQ, and Kafka. On the front-end side of things, React with TypeScript is the flavor du jour.

As a Senior Fullstack Engineer, You Will:
- Lead technical decisions and influence the team’s growth, both technically and in processes.
- Design, build, and maintain microservices, libraries, and frontend components with a focus on backend optimization, especially with databases like Postgres.
- Collaborate with other teams to align with Smartly’s target architecture.
- Plan and implement features ensuring solutions are robust, customer-centric, and future-proof.
What We’re Looking For:
- Backend Expertise: Solid experience in developing microservices, working closely with databases (especially optimizing queries), and building scalable backend solutions.
- Frontend Experience: Familiarity with React is important, as the role requires some frontend work.
- Distributed Systems Knowledge: Experience in designing or working with distributed systems.
- JavaScript/TypeScript Mastery: Advanced skills in TypeScript and Node.js.
- Testing Skills: Proficiency with test frameworks such as Jest and a solid understanding of unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
- Autonomy & Communication: A proactive and autonomous mindset with excellent communication skills, essential for collaborating across multiple teams.
- Future Architectural Direction: Potential to define and drive the architectural direction based on previous project experience.
- Location: This role is based in Helsinki, with a requirement of being in the office 3 days per week.
