Senior Software Engineer - Impact

The Adyen platform processes billions of transactions every year - that’s billions of opportunities for people around the world to do good and donate safely and transparently with their favorite brands. One of the ways to unlock this potential is through our donations product – Adyen Giving. Adyen Giving lets businesses support impactful causes at no cost – 100% of the donation goes directly to the cause, with Adyen absorbing all the fees involved.

As a Senior Software Engineer for Impact, you will be responsible for the full development cycle of the Adyen Giving product, from designing your software to testing and ensuring everything works as expected after deployment in a weekly release. You will leverage your engineering skills and expertise to build solutions not only within a team, but in a close collaboration with a lot of other teams in the company.

What you'll do            

• You will build and maintain our product built on top of Adyen’s distributed high-performance platform.
• You will be fully responsible from its initial design to bringing new functionality live.
• Your code will be used at scale and you are expected to think in that mindset when building features.
• Offer support and technical guidance in software architectural discussions.
• Bring your own point of view on best engineering practices, and spread them across your team and beyond.
• Identify and improve parts of the product to make it more robust and scalable.
• Collaborate across teams and sometimes across time zones to make things happen, review code and be open to feedback.
• Communicating with stakeholders and merchants, and monitoring the impact of new features.
• We value in-person collaboration, so we’re looking for someone who is comfortable working from our office.
• This is a full-time position.

Who you are

• You have experience with Core Java, web services, REST APIs and SQL/PostgreSQL
• (Good to have) You have experience in deploying on containers.
• You have a good understanding of Software Engineering practices and interest in product knowledge.
• You are familiar with complex large scale distributed systems.
• You are flexible, a team player, someone with an eye for detail.
• Able to coach and train other developers.
• You are able to take ownership, lead a project and enjoy writing testable code.
• You recognize yourself in the Adyen Formula: being open-minded, having a proactive attitude, and always trying to make things work while keeping the bigger picture in mind.
• We welcome candidates who are excited about leveraging their skills for socially and environmentally impactful projects.
• You have excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate complex, technical concepts in front of different stakeholders.
• As we operate in a global setting, you need to be proficient in English; any other language is a plus.
