The Assessment Tools team builds game-based assessments on the Roblox platform which are used to evaluate cognitive skills as part of the Roblox hiring process. Learning experts and game developers collaborate to create engaging assessments that help us identify ideal candidates from a large pool of applicants. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Assessment Tools Team, you will work with learning experts and game developers to architect and build game systems, features, and tools in service of assessing users' cognitive abilities. You will assist in building a library of always-on experiences that are high-stakes for Roblox applicants, ensuring that we provide them with a stable, engaging, and effective assessment.
You Will
- Collaborate with many disciplines to build cognitive assessments in Roblox Studio to run on the Roblox platform
- Mentor other engineers as well as non-technical team members
- Architect and build systems and user facing features in support of building assessments
- Become an expert on our technology stack and ensure we build new components and applications in a scalable and robust manner.
- Work closely with live-ops and the rest of the technical team to maintain a high-stakes, always-on product
You Have
- 6+ years of experience working as a software engineer
- 2+ years of experience leading technical projects with multiple team members involved
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
- Expertise with 3+ programming languages
- Bonus: Multiple years of experience developing game systems and architecture
You Are
- A Full Stack Software Engineer who can work across different languages and stacks
- Proficient in writing readable, extensible, and testable code
- A technical leader that can translate requirements into scalable architecture and code
- An experienced mentor and a highly collaborative team member
- Curious with an interest in understanding the scientific side of cognitive assessment
*Bonus: Experienced with game engines like Roblox, Unity, Unreal Engine, etc
For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.
Annual Salary Range
$238,520—$289,460 USD
Roles that are based in our San Mateo, CA Headquarters are in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional in-office on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
