What You'll Do
In this role, you'll work with Flatiron Germany, Flatiron UK, and Flatiron Japan to develop infrastructure in partnership with the entire International Engineering team. The focus will be on developer operations and the foundations of our cloud networking infrastructure, with an aim toward the reliability and resiliency of systems as we grow. In addition, you will:

  • Design and build networking and application infrastructure that provide high levels of scalability, reliability, and performance, while balancing security, maintainability, and operational excellence
  • Partner with product and application teams to provide guidance and best practices around scalability, reliability, and performance of our productions networking, infrastructure, and software
  • Craft solid and clearly explained designs, playbooks, and documentation, for consumption by teammates and the larger engineering organization
  • Improve operational efficiency through automation and deployment or development of new tools
  • Be proactive in performance & availability monitoring; provide remediations for systemic issues
  • Ingest requirements, scope work, produce estimates and help define deliverables with project timelines
  • Work as a team on escalations, resolving critical issues that impact our high SLA production systems
  • Help build an international SRE team and SRE culture as Flatiron International grows


Who You Are
You're a kind, passionate and collaborative problem-solver who values the opportunity to think beyond the way things are. In addition, you're a Site Reliability or DevOps Engineer with 5+ years of experience working in a devops or software engineering role. You're excited by the prospect of rolling up your sleeves to tackle meaningful problems each and every day. You seek and give candid feedback, and value the chance to make an important impact.

  • You have experience writing simple, readable, useful code, especially for operational tooling
  • You have experience with AWS
  • You have experience in resilient and distributed cloud network infrastructure, including VPN architecture, firewall configuration and network segmentation and routing in a cloud-native environment.
  • You have experience implementing cloud permissions and least privilege access at scale
  • You are environment agnostic in your practices, and are able to scale them across Linux and cloud native environments
  • You are experienced with configuration management, orchestration, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform
  • You are a strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across multiple business and engineering teams
  • You have the ability to adjust quickly to changing priorities and make quick decisions with limited information
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity and always willing to teach and learn
  • You are fluent in English


Optional

  • You have deep experience in AWS, including AWS Certified Advanced Networking or other AWS certifications
  • You have experience with OpenTofu, powershell, or DevOps in a dotnet environment
  • You have worked in complex regulatory environments, requiring data isolation, nuanced permissions, and role based access across teams

The annual pay range reflected above for this position is based on the preferred primary location of the role which is listed in the job description. Salary ranges for other locations vary from the range reflected above. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. An annual bonus and equity may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
