Job Description
BAE Systems is looking for an experienced Scrum Master with development experience in C++ and Java Spring Boot development. A clearance and 6 to 8+ years of software design, code, and test experience is required.
The candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team supporting the design, code, and test of new software in a rapid development environment to integrate, deploy, and support large, complex systems. The role will be to help oversee and manage developer lead scrum teams. This position may require business travel in support of customer meetings and operational system deployment and support activities.
The position will have the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Be an Agile evangelist and trainer for various Agile workflows, including: Kanban, Scrum, and DevSecOps
  • Coach 2 to 4 scrum teams and facilitate the following team events: Daily standups, iteration planning, iteration reviews, retrospectives
  • Support the Product Owner in creating, grooming, prioritizing the product backlog. demos & presentations, and other meeting as required
  • Provide oversight during sprints to help the team stay on track and keep their commitments to the Product Owner, stakeholders, and customers
  • Work with the technical teams to identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems
  • Monitor project status, including risk management, and communicate this information to the Product Owner
  • Create reports, metrics, policy, technical documents, white papers, training, and support documents for scrum team
  • Help the team maintain implementation quality, organization, and automation
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Must be a US Citizen with an active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance
  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering/technical discipline and 6 to 8+ years software design, code and debugging experience across the entire development lifecycle
  • Past Scrum Master experience with roadmap development, task creation
  • Prior technical leadership experience as a scrum master with having day to day oversight of a team of software engineers
  • Experience with Agile software development
  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence
  • Proficiency with one or more of the following:
  • C++
  • Java, Spring Boot
  • Experience developing successful object-oriented systems with a focus on maintainability and testability, and deep understanding of issues surrounding layering and dependencies in object oriented systems
  • Understanding and skills in software design and code, including Object Oriented Analysis & Design (OOAD)
  • Experience with version control systems, such as Git
  • Experience with Agile development and issue tracking systems, such as JIRA
  • Experience with UNIX and/or Linux
  • Self-starter with ability to multitask
  • Team player with a proactive attitude and the ability to be productive in a dynamic/collaborative environment
  • Strong oral and written communications skills


Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science
  • Proficiency in multiple high level programming languages (e.g., C++, Java, Python)
  • Experience with Cloud computing environments such as AWS
  • Knowledge of and experience with software design patterns and heuristics and their application.
  • Development methodologies (e.g., Waterfall, Agile, and/or Iterative)
  • Scripting and other languages (e.g., sh, csh, bash, ksh, make, imake, XML, HTML, CSS, and/or PERL)
  • Development tools and services (e.g., VS Code, Spring Framework, Apache Kafka, and/or automated test tools)
  • Java Frameworks such as Spring
  • Open Source, software and services
  • Currently hold a Top Secret/SCI security clearance
  • Familiarity with GitLab, Docker, Kubernetes


Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $130355 - $221603
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
