About this role:
Pickle is on the hunt for a dynamic and driven Robotic Safety Certification Engineer to join our team focusing on our safety compliance and automation systems across multiple markets. This role combines technical expertise in robotics engineering with industrial safety standards to create secure and efficient automation solutions.
What You’ll Accomplish:
- You will be responsible for working with the engineering teams in order to support safety-critical functions, establishing development methodologies, and ensuring compliance with all appropriate safety standards.
- Apply industry-standard safety methodologies to contribute to development and architectural design, supporting the deployment of industrial robot prototypes and safety-critical systems.
- Lead and oversee the entire product safety certification process, working closely with certification authorities to meet industry standards and compliance requirements.
- Produce and communicate the meaning of safety artifacts such as Task Based Risk Assessments, safety architecture overviews, and safety validation test plans.
- Support product and commercial teams in their efforts to educate customers on how to safely use the product, both in terms of building user documentation and communicating any remaining residual risks.
- Ensure the integration of safety considerations throughout the product development lifecycle, from design to deployment.
- Act as the company’s leading expert in robotics safety concepts, design, engineering, regulations, and certification.
Who You Are:
- Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of experience achieving product conformity to applicable safety certifications like (UL,CE) and/or standards like (RIA).
- Extensive experience in safety engineering on various industrial robotic systems, with a focus on safety-critical functions.
- Deep familiarity with specification and execution of functional safety assessments and certifications for Industrial Robots.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple organizations.
- Creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risk and make design and development decisions to enhance safety.
- Track record of obtaining NRTL safety certifications for commercialized products.
- In depth knowledge of industrial robotics and safety standards such as R15.06, R15.08, IEC 62061 and IEC 61508.
- Familiarity safety standards such as ISO 12100, ISO 13849, IEC 61496, NFPA 79, NEC 70, UL 508AProven experience leading the certification process for safety-critical products.
- Willing and able to work from our office located in Cambridge, MA at least three days per week.
