 The Role: Senior Reservoir Engineer

You will serve as a technical lead for reservoir engineering across Stronghold’s operated and non-operated oil & gas assets. In this role, you will provide rigorous subsurface analysis, production forecasting, and reserve valuations that drive strategic decision-making across acquisitions, divestitures, and field development plans.

This role blends technical mastery with business acumen—you’re not just evaluating wells, you’re shaping Stronghold’s investment decisions.

 What You’ll Do

  • Reservoir Analysis & Modeling
    Conduct reservoir studies, decline curve analysis, production forecasting, and economic evaluations to support investment decisions.
  • Reserves & Valuations
    Quantify reserves and resources in accordance with SEC and SPE-PRMS standards. Deliver defensible valuations for acquisitions, divestitures, and internal reporting.
  • Technical Due Diligence
    Evaluate PDP, PUD, and upside potential on deal flow. Build reservoir models and workflows that inform pricing strategies and risk analysis.
  • Field Development Optimization
    Collaborate with asset management and operations to guide drilling, completions, and enhanced recovery strategies aligned with maximizing NPV.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making
    Apply machine learning, advanced analytics, and simulation techniques to streamline reservoir performance insights.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    Work with geologists, production engineers, finance, and executive leadership to align reservoir performance with portfolio strategy.

What You Bring

  • 7–10 years of reservoir engineering or upstream technical experience with exposure to capital planning and A&D.
  • Bachelor’s in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Strong grasp of reservoir simulation, pressure transient analysis (PTA/RTA), decline curve analysis, and fluid modeling.
  • Proficiency in evaluating unconventional reservoirs—Permian Basin experience required; Haynesville, Eagle Ford, and Bakken a plus.
  • Demonstrated success in reserves estimation, production optimization, and asset valuation.
  • Strong command of engineering software and programming tools:
    • Python (NumPy, Pandas, scikit-learn) – Medium to Advanced
    • SQL – Basic to Medium
    • Spotfire or Tableau – Medium to Advanced
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to distill complex technical data into actionable business insights.
  • Experience in private equity-backed environments or fast-paced investment firms preferred.

Full compensation packages are based on candidate experience and certifications.
