A Day in the LifeExciting Opportunity for an experienced Senior Reliability Engineer with a passion for the Software side of Engineering.

Responsibilities may include the following:

  • Development and maintenance of the software DFMEA and hazard analysis
  • Creating and updating the software reliability confidence model
  • Ensures that test cases used for software verification/validation are correct
  • Support design verification planning and execution and report writing
  • Review of software documentation (requirements and risk)
  • Review cybersecurity plan and report
  • Confirm compliance in accordance with IEC 62304
  • Provide support, as needed, for 60601 Clause 14 assessments
  • Participate in code review/formal design review for software
  • Participates in SOUP validation
  • Review/support software tools validation
  • Perform as needed testing and submitting anomalies to development
  • Participate in software change control board
  • Participate in the released product investigation board
  • Lead software design for reliability within the project

Nice to Have

  • Experience with hardware and software integration
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills, including application of structured problem-solving methods and tools
  • An MS Engineering
  • Proven understanding of reliability engineering principles
  • Strong understanding of and experience in the application of statistics, including experience with Minitab
  • Experience in a highly-regulated industry, preferably implantable medical devices
  • Experience with 21 CFR Part 820 (Quality System Regulation), ISO 13485, etc.
  • Experience in the application of Risk Management (ISO 14971) and hazard analysis and risk analysis techniques (e.g., PHA, HA, FTA, DFMEA)
  • Ability to independently lead investigations to identify system/product failures, hazards, hazardous situations, and harms
  • Exposure to or experience working in or with Design, Quality, Regulatory, Clinical and/or Manufacturing
  • Experience in the design, maintenance, or continuation engineering of released software or software systems, including mobile applications
  • Knowledge of Design for Reliability (DfR), Design for Reliability and Manufacturability (DRM), Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), Design for Lean Sigma (DFLS), and/or robust design practices

Requires a BS degree and minimum of 4 years of industry related experience, or advanced degree with at least 2 years industry related experience.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$101,600.00 - $152,400.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
 

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

 

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).

 

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns.  Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
