Job Description
The Senior Project Manager will lead and deliver key Development Projects and Programs for TOMRA Food, ensuring they align with the organisation's strategic objectives and adhere to the TOMRA Food Project Model.
This role involves regular exposure to the C-suite, requiring strong communication and presentation skills to effectively convey project progress, challenges, and outcomes.
This position is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering assigned projects within a Research & Development (R&D) and New Product Development (NPD) context. Given the complexity and impact of these projects, proven experience in a similar role within a relevant industry is essential.
As a critical member of the Project Management Office (PMO), the Senior Project Manager must bring
a strong understanding of technical environments while focusing on strategic execution. This role requires the ability to navigate complex projects, align cross-functional teams, and contribute to TOMRA Food's broader business growth beyond assigned responsibilities.
Role & Requirements:
Project Leadership:
- Plan, execute, and deliver a portfolio of key projects according to the TOMRA Food project model.
- Schedule resources and make project-related decisions within the approved project management plan.
- Oversee multiple large projects simultaneously, monitoring progress, managing budgets, and providing regular updates on status, risks, and performance.
- Provide comprehensive reporting and documentation, delivering clear updates on progress, challenges and resolutions to senior stakeholders.
- Update assigned projects on the TOMRA Project Portal for clear communication and visibility.
Operational Excellence:
- Follow TOMRA Food's resource allocation.
- Own and refine specific components of the TOMRA Food Project Model and TOMRA Food Project Academy.
- Act as an ambassador for the teams involved.
- Provide actionable feedback to enhance both the Project Model and Academy continuously.
Team Collaboration and Development:
- Mentor and coach project managers, fostering a culture of growth and learning.
- Support efficient project initiation and ensure seamless handovers at Project Closure.
- Foster productive collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Qualifications
About You:
- Proven track record of delivering large, cross-functional, international projects on time, within scope, budget, and quality.
- 10+ years of project management experience, preferably in a technology-and/or product-oriented international company (e.g., machinery, equipment, or hardware—not solely software).
- BSc, MSc, or MBA degree in a relevant field.
- Demonstrated experience managing NPD projects in Research & Development and/or Product Management environments.
- Experience developing products for manufacturing production or working with automated machinery and software products in global manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies and frameworks (e.g., Prince 2, PMP) with a consistent track record of successful delivery.
- Ability to manage complexity and drive efficiency in global project environments.
- Excellent leadership skills with 5+ years in managerial positions, proven ability to build efficient teams, create vision, and drive results.
- Capable of inspiring and aligning cross-functional teams across different continents.
- Strong oral and written communication, including presentation skills.
- Experience coaching and mentoring junior project managers.
