Job Description:

The Senior Project Manager leads the execution of complex, high-risk development projects from initial scope definition through successful completion. As a key member of the Global Innovation team, the Senior Project Manager serves as the primary interface with customers, ensuring alignment of beta program requirements with operational execution. This role is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and executing standardized project management practices focused on communication, risk mitigation, scope control, and financial performance. The Senior Project Manager fosters a collaborative environment, mentoring team members to develop their skills and reach their full potential. Furthermore, the Senior Project Manager actively contributes to our Lean initiatives by identifying and implementing opportunities for continuous improvement and process optimization. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Analyze project requirements, including customer specifications, OEM proposals, and product requirement documents, to define and document the project scope. 
  • Collaborate with Product Line Leaders to translate high-level customer needs into actionable project scope for the development team. 
  • Develop detailed project cost estimates, encompassing project management, engineering resources, third-party equipment and services, and other relevant expenses. 
  • Partner with the Sales team to develop project pricing strategies that achieve target margins and revenue objectives. 
  • Create and implement a comprehensive communication plan to ensure effective communication with the customer and internal operations teams throughout the project lifecycle, particularly for beta programs and initial production orders. 
  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks to ensure successful project delivery. 
  • Coordinate with the Purchasing team to procure necessary third-party equipment and services, adhering to established procurement processes. 
  • Travel to customer sites as required for scope validation, project reviews, acceptance testing, and other critical project activities. 
  • Develop and maintain integrated project schedules, aligning engineering and operational activities to achieve project milestones and target completion dates. 
  • Plan and execute customer visits, Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs) as required. 
  • Provide ongoing customer support during product launch and post-validation phases to ensure customer satisfaction and successful product adoption. 
  • Monitor project financial performance, tracking actual costs against budget and conducting regular financial reviews. 
  • Manage third-party suppliers to ensure adherence to contractual obligations, quality standards, and project timelines. 
  • Oversee on-site activities for beta units and initial production orders, including third-party integration, installation, commissioning, and startup. 
  • Validate completed project deliverables against customer requirements and manage formal customer acceptance processes. 
  • Conduct post-project reviews to evaluate project performance, identify lessons learned, and implement process improvements 1 to enhance future project execution.    
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college. 
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience managing complex innovation projects, preferably in capital equipment, manufacturing, multi-site, or global environments. 
  • Proven ability to develop and manage project plans utilizing PMBOK methodologies, including work breakdown structures (WBS), risk assessments, and project scheduling tools (e.g., Gantt charts). 
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects through a defined Stage-Gate process, ensuring timely completion of milestones and adherence to established stage-gate criteria. 
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project). 
  • Demonstrated strategic problem-solving skills and a results-oriented approach. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, management, and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • PMP Certification. 
  • Experience with capital equipment project execution. 
  • Experience with packaging equipment or within the packaging industry. 
  • Experience with SmartSheets. 
  • Experience with Agile/Lean project management methodologies for product development.
