Johnson Controls is hiring! We are seeking a motivated Product Manager to support our efforts in shaping the future of our BMS and Controls Hardware and Software products. This role will collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and business leaders to identify market opportunities, analyze competitive landscapes, and drive innovation initiatives.

As part of the Product Management team at Johnson Controls, you will contribute to the development of cutting-edge solutions that enhance building automation and operational efficiency. You will also work closely with Product Managers to understand, articulate, and align with customer needs, ensuring a consistent and compelling value proposition. Additionally, you will help refine product briefs, driving clarity and consistency in messaging to improve efficiency across all aspects of the portfolio.

This role is ideal for a professional with experience in research-driven environments, where strategic business case development, thoughtful investigation, and long-term planning are prioritized over immediate deliverables. The position provides time for exploration, collaboration, and a holistic understanding of the market, ultimately driving impactful process improvements and sustainable growth.

How you will do it 
Innovation and Ideation 
Work with senior product managers to define best practices for product innovation and customer-centric development.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to explore emerging technologies and assess their applicability to our product portfolio.
Contribute to strategic planning sessions, proposing new product concepts and enhancements.
 

Product and Business Strategy
Support the evaluation of portfolio gaps and growth opportunities, aligning with long-term business objectives.
Assist in building business cases for new product development initiatives.|
Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to ensure product positioning aligns with customer needs.
 

Development of product brief
Collaborate with Product Managers to articulate product value propositions effectively. 
Refine and enhance product briefs to ensure clear, concise, and consistent messaging   Standardize product messaging to drive alignment across marketing, sales, and engineering teams. 
Ensure product briefs support efficient decision-making and streamlined go-to-market strategies. 
Improve documentation quality to enhance portfolio communication and stakeholder engagement.

Support Key Product Management Initiatives
Partner with senior product managers on strategic initiatives
Provide technical insights, contribute to requirements definition, and participate in validation and prioritization processes.
Leads and/or provides input into the development of digital transformation initiatives that integrate digital value and actionable data more extensively into business and operating models
Collaborates with and influences product managers, developers, vendors, designers, and other stakeholders to ensure successful product strategies and product/ feature launches
Collaborate with stakeholders to recommend and implement changes to products, processes, or business practices to ensure an exceptional digital experience based on feedback provided

What you will need 
Required 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field (MBA is strongly preferred).

  • 7+ years of experience in product management, strategy, or innovation-focused roles.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information.

  • Experience with competitive analysis, market research, and data-driven decision-making.

  • Ability to collaborate across teams (engineering, sales, marketing, and leadership).

  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, matrixed environments with shifting priorities.

  •  Passion for technology, innovation, and customer-centric product development.
