About Karya:
Why was Karya on the cover of the Time Magazine , highlighted by Satya Nadella , and chosen by Google as its partner for Project Vaani?
In part, because Karya is on a mission to provide AI enabled earning and learning opportunities to economically underserved communities, thereby building a pathway out of poverty for them. Karya achieves this while also delivering high quality, timely, and price competitive data to its clients.
Karya’s workers make at least 20 times the Indian minimum wage and through our one-of-a-kind digital work platform, we have delivered over 40 million digital tasks and are poised to positively impact over 100 thousand workers by the end of the year. In the coming years, our goal is to rapidly scale our impact by bringing economic opportunities to millions of underserved users in India.
We are seeking an innovative Senior Product Manager to scale and manage our primary product: the Karya digital work platform. In this role, you will own the strategy and end-to-end lifecycle of our platform — designing experiments to raise performance week on week, collecting feedback, and launching new features to distribute increasingly complex tasks at scale. Candidates must have a proven track record of building and scaling high-traffic platforms, serving at least 10,000+ DAUs.
If you’re excited about building products that empower millions and thrive in entrepreneurial environments, we’d love to hear from you. Note: This role is primarily based in Bangalore, but we are open to flexible arrangements for exceptional candidates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Platform Strategy & Architecture - Define and drive the product strategy for Karya’s digital work platform, ensuring it can scale seamlessly to support a rapidly growing gig workforce. Think in terms of system architecture – designing and optimizing features/workflows.
- Improve Usability for All Stakeholders - Continuously measure and improve usability of the platform for all key stakeholders including workers, PaaS users, clients, and platform administrators.
- Drive Throughput Optimization - Measure key performance metrics and design experiments to continuously improve throughput. Launch new features and refine processes to manage our workforce effectively and handle increasingly complex tasks at scale.
- Data-Driven Decision Making - Champion a culture of rapid experimentation. Build systems and tools to track, analyze, and optimize key metrics such as worker engagement, task completion rates, and data quality. Leverage real-time analytics and A/B testing to inform strategic decision.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration - Work closely with engineering, design, operations, and sales teams to deliver on the product roadmap. Coordinate with stakeholders across the organization to align product initiatives with business goals, ensuring seamless execution from concept through launch.
Must-Have Skills & Qualifications:
- 4+ years of product management experience, with a track record of building and scaling products. Experience in gig economy, marketplace, or workforce automation domains is highly preferred.
- Comfortable collaborating with engineering teams on technical trade-offs, infrastructure choices, and design patterns. Able to translate complex technical requirements into clear product decisions, ensuring the platform can handle tens of thousands of concurrent users and tasks.
- A strong analytical mindset with a passion for data. Proven ability to leverage data and experimentation (e.g., A/B testing, analytics) to drive product decisions and performance improvements.
- Demonstrated experience in building and scaling marketplace products. Deep understanding of workforce management systems, with the ability to optimize supply and balance complex task distribution.
- Thrives in fast-paced, high-growth settings. Adaptable and execution-focused, with experience iterating quickly.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills. Able to work across teams and drive alignment with engineers, designers, operations, and executive leadership to deliver impactful results.

What We Do
At Karya, we are on a mission to bring AI-based earning and learning opportunities to low-income communities. The AI revolution has created a massive amount of digital work surrounding data generation, labelling, and enrichment. From building multimodal Indic language datasets and human-in-the-loop tasks to mitigating bias and culturally-sensitive LLM evaluations, Karya’s workers in rural India enable cutting-edge, inclusive AI innovations.
We have also built a one-of-a-kind digital work platform that divides AI-data tasks into microtasks and distributes them to individuals in need of supplementary income. So far, our platform has been used to distribute 40 million+ tasks to 40,000+ people in India. Our platform and model allows us to provide our workers some of the highest wages in the global data market - nearly 20 times the Indian minimum wage.
We were on the cover of the Time Magazine and Bloomberg last year, and Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella recently highlighted our work in his keynote. Karya has been supported by organisations like Microsoft, Google, Gates Foundation, ACT Grants, Fast Forward, 100X Accelerator, DRK Foundation, Mulago, Echoing Green, The/Nudge Institute among others
