JOB PURPOSE:
We’re seeking an experienced Senior Product Designer who thrives at the intersection of people, business, and technology. This role is truly mixed—balancing client-facing leadership, strategic thinking, and hands-on design execution.
As a key member of our design team, you will not only shape and execute digital products but also take ownership of early client engagements, guiding them towards larger strategic initiatives. You’ll be comfortable pitching and selling design-led thinking, framing opportunities for innovation, and leading clients through the product discovery and definition phases—ultimately driving work that grows into a larger pipeline.
This role requires the ability to swiftly shift gears—some days, you’ll be working alongside clients to define product strategy and business opportunities; other times, you’ll be hands-on, fine-tuning interfaces and ensuring seamless execution—all in the pursuit of creating digital products that customers will love.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Own the end-to-end design process for a variety of digital products, including web applications, mobile applications, spatial platforms, and other digital experiences.
- Lead client engagements, acting as the primary design partner—helping shape vision, define opportunities, and guide projects into larger strategic initiatives.
- Pitch and sell design-led thinking, effectively articulating the value of product design in business growth, user experience, and digital transformation.
- Research and define problem spaces, ensuring market fit, usability, and alignment with client objectives.
- Translate user research insights into actionable design solutions that directly address pain points and elevate customer experiences.
- Develop and present compelling design artifacts—including wireframes, prototypes, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive demos—to communicate design concepts to stakeholders.
- Establish and apply visual design principles, including branding, typography, and UI design, to create cohesive and engaging digital experiences.
- Align design strategy with business objectives, helping clients navigate ambiguity, frame opportunities, and drive product innovation.
- Continuously improve processes—testing and evolving frameworks, methodologies, and tools to elevate design practice within DEPT®.
- Champion collaboration across disciplines, working closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of digital products.
SKILLS AND PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE:
- A strong, hands-on designer with an exceptional eye for detail, capable of crafting high-quality, user-centric digital experiences.
- Ability to sell, do, and present the work—comfortable pitching concepts, executing designs, and confidently articulating solutions to clients and stakeholders.
- Proven ability to lead client engagements—comfortable pitching, selling, and guiding clients through early design phases to shape larger strategic initiatives.
- Experience in product strategy and digital innovation, understanding how to connect user needs, business goals, and technical feasibility into scalable solutions.
- Strong business acumen, with the ability to identify opportunities, frame design as a driver of business growth, and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in design/development/collaboration tools – including Figma / Figjam, Miro, Adobe Creative Cloud suite, Confluence/Jira (or equivalent).
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, leading teams and clients through complex problem spaces to uncover opportunities and drive product clarity.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to articulate design rationale, influence decision-making, and inspire stakeholders.
- Experience successfully guiding projects from conceptualisation to product release, ensuring seamless execution and high-quality delivery.
- Ability to lead business development (BD), sales, and pitching initiatives, proactively driving growth and new opportunities for DEPT®.
- Previous experience in a digital agency, consulting, or high-growth product environment, where client interaction and strategic thinking were key.
- Understanding of engineering and development practices, including familiarity with software development methods, platforms, and infrastructure.
- Comfort working in fast-paced environments, balancing hands-on design work with leadership responsibilities.
- Above all, you’re a great human—collaborative, adaptable, and passionate about creating meaningful digital experiences.
