HiveMQ’s Vision for this role

HiveMQ is seeking an experienced Platform Engineer to join our Engineering Platform Team, which plays a crucial role in supporting the company’s end-to-end operations by providing essential platform services.

As a multi-disciplinary team, the Engineering Platform Team enhances the overall efficiency of HiveMQ’s product development and cloud applications development and their operations. In this role, you will support product development by developing and maintaining collaboration tools, automation solutions, and infrastructure to streamline project management, data analysis, software development and developer experience.

By working closely with our Cloud Applications and Cloud SRE teams, you will identify challenges and implement solutions that enable them to operate more effectively and efficiently.

You will…

  • Work closely with Product Development and Cloud (Applications and SRE) teams to understand their requirements and develop solutions that meet their needs.
  • Participate in cross-functional initiatives to help drive innovation and growth within the product development  organization.
  • Employ modernized software delivery methods such as infrastructure as code, distributed containerized service deployments to automate the delivery and deployment of customer-facing products and internal systems like observability and monitoring
  • Design, develop, and maintain the platform's tools and infrastructure, including project management, data  analysis, automation, and software development tools. 
  • Provide training and support to product teams to help them effectively use the platform's tools and infrastructure. 
  • Measure and report on platform performance, identifying areas for improvement and making recommendations on how to optimize performance. 
  • Live a culture of teamwork, quality, growth, drive to action, and excellence.

You have…

  • Excellent English communication skills and able to work in a collaborative team environment. 
  • Experience in operating, maintaining and automating engineering focused systems 
  • The ability to solve problems independently and are driven towards execution.
  • A good understanding of how agile software engineering using Kanban works.
  • A highly pragmatic approach paired with a high sense of ownership and the ability to work as a team.
  • Experience in networking technologies, such as routing, VPN, network performance, DNS, and VPN 
  • Experience operating at scale Cloud (SaaS, IaaS or PaaS) products and services in a Cloud environment with high degrees of automation.
  • Proven experience in building and operating applications at production-quality in the cloud with Cloud native technologies like Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Helm, and other IaC tools.
  • Experience operating with at least one of the major 3 Cloud providers (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
  • High standards on building platform and infrastructure setups with automation, modular reusable infrastructure as code, GitOps, Test- and CI/CD-driven.
  • Experience in CI/CD systems, preferably Jenkins and/or ArgoCD.
  • Experience in build automation software preferably Gradle
  • Experience with metrics and monitoring solutions such as Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, Mimir or similar (like ElasticSearch, Kibana).
