We are seeking a Senior Payroll Analyst for our First Quality Enterprise located in Great Neck, NY. The Senior Payroll Analyst is responsible for accurate computing, withholding, and deductions associated with net earnings responsible for assisting with daily payroll operations including but not limited to proper calculation of multi-state payrolls. Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal wage and hours and tax laws. Assisting with reconciling of monthly, quarterly, and annual tax filings.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Administration and coordinate the processing of biweekly payroll and serve as back up to the weekly process
- Assist with the reconciliation and posting of the general ledger with regards to payroll transactions and preform related accounting reconciliations
- Audit documents for all payroll records for team members: tax information, direct deposit information, wage attachments
- Process deductions and reconciliation of company store
- Reconcile payroll on a weekly, monthly, quarter-end and year-end payroll basis
- Assist with tax reconciliations and reporting
- Respond to team member inquiries regarding payroll issues and concerns
- Keep abreast of payroll processing system and changes in wage and tax laws
- Provide standard and scheduled reports to finance and other departments as necessary
- Understand timekeeping records for compliance with established policies and procedures, as necessary
- Run audit reports to ensure compliance and accuracy of data
- Ensure payroll process is compliant with Federal, State and Local regulations
- Assist with quarterly and year end processes
- Assist with the Payroll Fax inbox
- Maintain financial security by following internal controls
- Assist in a wide variety of department assignments, including back-up for colleagues on leave and other duties as may be required
The ideal candidate should possess the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred, or equivalent experience
- 5-7 years payroll and tax experience
- HRIS experience highly beneficial, but not required. Workday experience preferred
- Must have multi-state payroll experience, solid grasp of payroll tax laws and payroll best practices
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office. Competency in Excel required, Access, Word and PowerPoint highly beneficial
