Overall Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable and highly-available Restful APIs using Node.js technologies.
- Ensure high performance and responsiveness of applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and implement new features.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in a distributed services ecosystem.
- Manage CI/CD pipelines and ensure smooth deployment of applications.
- Monitor and optimize application performance.
- Research and benchmark technology against other best-in-class solutions.
- Maintain quality and adherence to standards in technical and application architecture and design.
Technical Skills:
- API Development: Proficient in developing scalable Restful APIs using Node.js and practical experience with GraphQL.
- CI/CD: Strong knowledge of CI/CD principles and tools; experience troubleshooting within a distributed services ecosystem.
- Containerization: Skilled in Docker and Kubernetes for managing containerized applications.
- API Gateway and Authentication: Experience with API gateway integrations like 3Scale and token-based authentication methods (Rest, JWT, oAuth).
- Message Queues: Expert in task/message queues such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Pushpin, and Kafka.
Experience:
- Minimum 7 years of coding experience in Node.js, JavaScript, and databases.
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience in TypeScript.
- Proven experience in performance tuning, debugging, and monitoring.
Day-to-Day Activities:
- Develop and maintain Restful APIs and services.
- Write and execute unit and integration tests to ensure code quality.
- Monitor application performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and implement new features.
- Ensure code quality and adherence to best practices and standards.
- Research new technologies and implement improvements where necessary.
Qualifications:
- Degree or Postgraduate in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
Functional Skills:
- Experience following best coding, security, unit testing, and documentation standards and practices.
- Experience in the banking, financial, and fintech sectors within an enterprise environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with Agile methodology.
- Ability to ensure the quality of technical and application architecture and design of systems across the organization.
- Effectively research and benchmark technology against other best-in-class technologies.
Soft Skills:
- Ability to influence and mentor multiple teams on technical considerations, increasing their productivity and effectiveness.
- Self-motivated and capable of owning and driving tasks without supervision.
- Strong collaborative skills, working effectively across teams and departments.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with and present ideas to senior and executive management.
