Senior Node.js Software Engineer (with Testing Expertise)

Software Requirements:

• Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript
• Databases (SQL/NoSQL)
• Performance tuning, debugging, monitoring tools
• Restful APIs, GraphQL
• CI/CD tools and principles
• Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• API gateway integrations (3Scale)
• Authentication protocols (Rest, JWT, oAuth)
• Task/message queues (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Pushpin, Kafka)

Overall Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable and highly-available Restful APIs using Node.js technologies.
• Ensure high performance and responsiveness of applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and implement new features.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in a distributed services ecosystem.
• Manage CI/CD pipelines and ensure smooth deployment of applications.
• Monitor and optimize application performance.
• Research and benchmark technology against other best-in-class solutions.
• Maintain quality and adherence to standards in technical and application architecture and design.

Technical Skills:

• API Development: Proficient in developing scalable Restful APIs using Node.js and practical experience with GraphQL.
• CI/CD: Strong knowledge of CI/CD principles and tools; experience troubleshooting within a distributed services ecosystem.
• Containerization: Skilled in Docker and Kubernetes for managing containerized applications.
• API Gateway and Authentication: Experience with API gateway integrations like 3Scale and token-based authentication methods (Rest, JWT, oAuth).
• Message Queues: Expert in task/message queues such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Pushpin, and Kafka.

Experience:

• Minimum 7 years of coding experience in Node.js, JavaScript, and databases.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in TypeScript.
• Proven experience in performance tuning, debugging, and monitoring.

Day-to-Day Activities:

• Develop and maintain Restful APIs and services.
• Write and execute unit and integration tests to ensure code quality.
• Monitor application performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and implement new features.
• Ensure code quality and adherence to best practices and standards.
• Research new technologies and implement improvements where necessary.

Qualifications:

• Degree or Postgraduate in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.

Functional Skills:

• Experience following best coding, security, unit testing, and documentation standards and practices.
• Experience in the banking, financial, and fintech sectors within an enterprise environment is preferred.
• Familiarity with Agile methodology.
• Ability to ensure the quality of technical and application architecture and design of systems across the organization.
• Effectively research and benchmark technology against other best-in-class technologies.

Soft Skills:

• Ability to influence and mentor multiple teams on technical considerations, increasing their productivity and effectiveness.
• Self-motivated and capable of owning and driving tasks without supervision.
• Strong collaborative skills, working effectively across teams and departments.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with and present ideas to senior and executive management.
