About The Position | Major goals and objectives and location requirements
EW Senior News Editors are responsible for coordinating breaking news content coverage plans.
A successful Senior News Editor will be a team player who has excellent writing, editing, time management, organizational, and communication skills, as well as a deep love and knowledge of entertainment and pop culture. In addition to orchestrating coverage plans for the news of the day, they will work closely with the rest of the team, suggesting story ideas, and executing unique ways to advance a story. Successful candidates will be able to guide editors and writers as they produce well-reported and engaging content under tight deadlines. They will collaborate with the News Director and other Senior Editors on coverage plans, negotiating exclusives, and cultivating relationships with publicists and other pertinent external collaborators and sources.
The Staff Editor must also be willing to work occasional off-hours and weekends as necessary.
In-office Expectations: This position is hybrid in-office, with the ability to work remotely for up to 2 days per week.

Entertainment Weekly is an entertainment news brand with approximately 35 full-time employees, predominately based in New York City and Los Angeles. The news team consists of a News Director, three Senior News Editors, and a team of Staff Editors and Writers.

The Role’s Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferred in journalism and/or equivalent experience.
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of experience, with at least 3 years in an editing role
Specific Knowledge, Skills, Certifications and Abilities:

Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills

Strong knowledge of entertainment, pop culture, and the EW brand

An idea generator who can think of new, fresh story ideas

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Experience with SEO, social media, content management systems, analytics tools

Pay Range
Salary: New York: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00
The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Dotdash Meredith’s total compensation package for employees. Other compensation may include annual bonuses, and short- and long-term incentives.
