KAYAK's Network Operations team is looking for a motivated network engineer with a real passion for automation! Our team is responsible for the 24x7 operation of KAYAK's network, providing a stable foundation for users all around the world to search for, book, and manage their trips.

You are going to be an essential member of a close-knit team that keeps the business running efficiently, helping millions of people plan and book their trips each year. You and the team will work collaboratively to maintain, improve, and automate the KAYAK Network.

A Senior Network Engineer at KAYAK will take ownership of designing, implementing, and maintaining our global network infrastructure. Responsibilities will include a mix of long-term projects and network escalation tasks, all focused on maintaining a network that is stable, secure, and scalable.

Please note, this role is required to work from our Cambridge, MA office at least 3 days per week.

In this role, you will:

  • Designing and deploying data center network fabric
  • Monitoring and maintaining all network equipment via SNMP, API or other means available
  • Using standard processes, maintain network security policies on Palo Alto firewalls
  • Maintain and scale data center interconnects as needed
  • Research and implement new connectivity methods to AWS infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with diverse teams to integrate on premises Kubernetes clusters into our infrastructure.
  • Continue to improve and maintain our existing enterprise office network infrastructure
  • Act as an escalation point for any network operations queries.

Please apply if you have:

  • At least 4 years experience configuring and maintaining web-scale production networks
  • Strong Linux skills (3 or more years preferred)
  • Experience with network automation, specifically using Ansible
  • Dedicated and has a growth-mindset to improve themselves, the team, and the business
  • Excellent collaboration skills and are able to document work and share knowledge with the rest of the team internally and externally
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with the following:
    • Designing, troubleshooting, and operating data center networks including L2 switching and L3 routing with OSPF and BGP
    • Linux routing software such as FRR, BIRD, or equivalent
    • Automating network tasks using scripting or configuration management tools such as Ansible and Python
    • Cisco, Juniper, and Dell, switches, and security appliances
    • Operating OpenFlow networks and/or BigSwitch Cloud Fabric
    • Working with Amazon AWS
