Get to know the Role

The Senior Network Engineer is expected to be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) covering network technology deployment and support. The role is required to participate in developing network strategy, standards, technology roadmaps, and network deployments.

You are expected to:

  • Configuring and installing various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN).
  • Support IT network infrastructure-related work, such as installing Internet connections, WiFi APs, network upgrades, office builds, expansions, and relocations.
  • Actively participate in engaging with Business Stakeholders, internal IT Teams, and Vendors to manage the outcome of the projects.
  • Lead network design and actively participate in operation reviews in the Change Management process.
  • You will take part and lead problem-solving efforts, service restoration, minimizing downtime and outages
  • Demonstrate technical influence within and outside your team driving best practices and increasing overall productivity.
  • Communicate your ideas effectively to achieve the right outcome for your stakeholders and team.
  • Actively drive knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within and outside your organisation.
  • Liaise with ISPs and vendors to provide required services and infrastructure.
  • Ensure network infrastructure complies with banking industry regulations and standards, addressing vulnerabilities and maintaining security.
  • Manage and support payment infrastructure connectivity, including SWIFT and BCS FAST payment systems

The must have skills

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology or a related field, and 2-5 years' experience in a medium to large enterprise network environment
  • Extensive experience in the design, implementation, and troubleshooting of routing, switching, security, and wireless LAN
  • Project management and ITIL service operation experience, with demonstrable practical skills
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and systems, and ability to adapt to a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Strong customer service and English communication skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Knowledge of network infrastructure vulnerabilities and regulation compliance
  • Basic understanding of cloud platforms, such as AWS, Azure and GCP
  • Holds one or more industry-recognised network certifications, such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIP, or NSE4

Really nice to have skills

  • Experienced in network automation using scripting languages like Python, Go, Perl, or Bash.
  • Knowledge and experience with Cisco products (switches, routers, ISE, ASA, WLC, etc.) and/or Fortigate firewalls would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and practices is a plus.
  • Experience with IaC (Terraform), DevOps and CI/CD practices to enhance network operations and deployments is preferred.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
