Senior ML Research Engineer

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior ML Research Engineer to join our innovative AI robotics company. In this role, you will design, develop, and refine the embodiment AI from scratch. You will work closely with robotics teams, hardware teams and product teams to build a viable and scalable AI product.

Responsibilities

• Design and build experimental machine learning pipelines that are the backbone of our robotics solutions, with a focus on both onboard and offboard AI stack development.
• Implement and evaluate the latest robotics and machine learning research, adapting and refining techniques to solve new and emerging challenges in the field.
• Collaborate with robotics, hardware, and product teams to ensure seamless integration of AI models and data pipelines into real-world applications.
• Optimize the inference speed of large models to achieve real-time performance in robotics applications.
• Build and maintain an end-to-end differentiable evaluation system to scale our robotics solutions effectively.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Machine Learning, AI, Robotics, Computer Science, or a related technical field and 5+ years of industry experience in AI/Robotics domain.
• Understanding of multimodal models, modern ML architectures (transformers, diffusion models, etc.), and imitation/reinforcement learning.
• Experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, TensorFlow, or similar.
• Highly motivated teammate with excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a dynamic and collaborative team environment.
• Expert programming skills on C++ and Python.
• Must work on-site at our office in the California Bay Area.
• Must have and maintain US work authorization.

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD in Machine Learning, AI, Robotics, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement ML experimentation and data pipelines with high-quality code that enables fast iteration cycles.
• Experience with object pose, object grasping, bimanual manipulation
• Practical experience with ML software engineering best practices – for example, experiment tooling, data pipelines, model training, and workflow automation.
• Familiarity with edge compute architectures.
• Ready for high pace at fast-growing startup.
