Job Description:
The Mechanical Engineer III designs, develops, and tests aspects of mechanical components and equipment. Design parts and assemblies in conjunction with senior engineers. Review and complete MCRs (MSI Engineering Change Requests) in consultation with senior engineers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Designs, develops, and tests aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery.
- May integrate components to produce the final design and evaluate the design’s overall effectiveness, manufacturability, cost, reliability, and safety.
- In addition to design and development, the position may provide production supervision of parts and equipment, determine the causes of component failure, and test manufactured products to maintain quality.
- Assist and communicate with customers the technical aspects of the product and assist in product planning, installation, and operation.
- Responsible for appropriately documenting design and processes related to the end product.
- Position will utilize Solidworks® and EPDM® to create and store drawings electronically that can then be viewed, printed, or programmed directly into automated manufacturing systems.
- Prepare variations and changes to current design drawings.
- Position will utilize the ERP (M1) system to create or modify parts and assemblies for Procurement.
- Assist with creating engineering process documentation.
- May lead and direct the work of other members of the technical team. Typically, this would be a technical report on a project-by-project basis without direct supervisory responsibilities.
- May train and supervise interns and associates on day-to-day tasks
- Ad-hoc projects as needed.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in related Engineering field required
- 5-7 years of engineering experience
SKILLS
- CAD software experience required (SolidWorks experience preferred)
- Experience in designing, developing, and testing mechanical components, equipment, and machinery.
- Proficiency in integrating mechanical components into final designs and assessing effectiveness, manufacturability, cost-efficiency, reliability, and safety.
- Ability to comprehend and apply principles of modern algebra and statistical theory.
- Skilled at using logical and scientific thinking to solve various complex problems, including interpreting formulas, graphs, and other symbols, and working with both abstract and practical concepts
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The physical demands of the role involve prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, using a computer, and engaging in repetitive hand movements for tasks like typing or writing. Occasional standing, walking, and lifting objects up to 20 pounds may be required. This role may also include frequent use of standard office equipment such as printers, copiers, and telephones. Good vision and hearing are needed to perform tasks effectively and communicate with team members.
The work environment for this role is primarily an office setting located near a manufacturing facility. While the office is climate-controlled and typically quiet, occasional exposure to noise, vibrations, or odors from the nearby production area may occur. Employees may need to enter the manufacturing floor occasionally, requiring adherence to safety protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
