Remora is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer who will drive the development of the blower and compressions subsystems in the Remora mobile carbon capture device from concept through production. This role will lead requirement generation, component development, component sourcing, and systems testing, while ensuring design deliverables meet aggressive timelines.

We're building carbon capture for trains and trucks. We generate revenue for railroads and trucking companies by extracting, purifying, and selling CO2 from their exhaust. Our technology can capture up to 90% of the CO2 in the vehicle's exhaust, while also reducing soot, particulate matter, and NOx.

We've partnered with some of the largest railroads and trucking companies, including Union Pacific, Norfolk Southern, Ryder, and Werner. We've now raised $117 million from prominent investors, including Lowercarbon Capital, Valor Equity Partners, Union Square Ventures, First Round Capital, and Y Combinator.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan & Develop: Lead design reviews, develop analytical and computational models, and DFMEA/DVP&Rs; including bench and system testing plans, pre-production verification and validation, and design release. Set strategy, delivery, and goals for the teams working on the sub-systems in order to achieve sub-system requirements on an aggressive timeline.
  • Execute: Utilizing your unusually strong skills in leadership, communication, ownership, and strategic thinking, drive the research and development of the blower and compression subsystems within the device, in partnership with our subject matter experts and suppliers.
  • Grow: Guide less experienced team members in design and decision making while fostering a collaborative and creative environment
  • Collaborate: Serve as a point person for the sub-system with other members of the Engineering team and share regular updates on progress with the team.
  • Design: Generate requirements and provide design direction and decision making for the blower and compression subsystems based on regulations, existing standards, and new standards created by Remora.

  • Experience with blowers, industrial compressors, and pressure vessels
  • Experience leading a team of engineers to achieve design deliverables
  • Experience moving quickly and making decisions with significant uncertainty
  • Experience rapidly learning about novel technologies and identifying new technologies for integration into systems
  • Experience working closely with suppliers and driving them to aggressive timelines
