The Role
The Brand Governance Senior Manager is a pivotal role at Morningstar, responsible for supporting the Head of Brand Strategy and the Senior Director, Brand Architecture and Governance in protecting and enhancing the company's brand. As part of the Brand Strategy team, this role includes assisting in the implementation of the brand architecture strategy as well as development and implementation of brand governance strategies, managing and monitoring risks, and effectively communicating with stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of and passion for brand, marketing, and risk management.
This position is based in our Chicago office. To foster continuous collaboration, at least three days in the office per week is required.
Responsibilities:

  • Work across teams-Brand, Marketing, Communications, Design, Product, Legal and Compliance (and with external agencies)-to strengthen internal understanding of the brand architecture strategy.
  • Partner with the Brand System, Creative Services, and external agency teams to develop tools and guidance to support the implementation of and adherence to the brand architecture strategy-internally and with third parties.
  • Collaborate with Marketing leads, Product teams, Legal and Compliance to develop and enforce guidelines for third-party co-branding and co-marketing engagements.
  • Manage and respond promptly to internal and external brand-related requests: Providing guidelines and/or brand assets.


Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, ideally in branding, marketing, advertising, or related field.
  • 5-7+ years of work experience, preferably in brand management, risk management, or related roles.
  • Solid understanding of marketing, risk management, change management and operational governance.
  • Ability to think strategically and implement effective risk and change management strategies.
  • Proven program/project management experience and experience successfully managing cross-functional global stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Self-starter with proven ability to navigate ambiguity, move multiple projects forward, and succeed in a matrixed environment.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms, e.g. Asana, SharePoint, Figma.
  • Experience collaborating with Legal/Compliance teams on reviewing contract language and trademark registration and adherence.
  • Experience collaborating with and overseeing external agency and other supplier engagements.

Base Salary Compensation Range
$80,457.00 - 136,761.00 USD Annual
Total Cash Compensation Range
$92,525.00 - 157,275.00 USD Annual
