For over a decade, Sapphire has partnered with visionary management teams and venture funds to help scale companies of consequence.  Sapphire is a technology-focused Venture Capital firm that focuses on helping growth-stage technology companies become category-defining leaders.

Since its founding, Sapphire has invested in more than 170 companies(2) globally resulting in more than 30 IPOs and 45 acquisitions(3). The firm’s investment strategies — Sapphire Ventures, Sapphire Partners and Sapphire Sport — are focused on scaling companies and venture funds, elevating them to become category leaders. Sapphire’s Portfolio Growth team of experienced operators delivers a strategic blend of value-add services, tools and resources designed to support portfolio company leaders as they scale.

The firm enjoys an open-door, collaborative culture - and spirited intellectual debate is encouraged!

What You’ll Do:

In addition to capital, Sapphire Ventures provides its portfolio companies with world class operational advisory and support.  These activities are powered by Sapphire Portfolio Growth (PG), a dedicated platform comprised of seasoned operators who deliver value-add services spanning business development, talent placement, marketing, engineering and capital markets advisory.  PG represents a critical component of the way in which Sapphire differentiates as an active, hands-on, value-add investor.

In support of portfolio business development, PG has launched ‘Sapphire Communities,’ an exclusive network of enterprise technology executives (CIOs, CTOs, CISOs, Chief Digital Officers, etc.) and partners spanning industry verticals which, in part, provides portfolio companies with access to key decision makers and well-qualified GTM opportunities.

The Sr. Manager, Executive Network Development will be responsible for continued expansion and management of Sapphire’s Communities.  Responsibilities will include defining strategies and processes for maintaining the network, executing on programmatic campaigns for network expansion, and supporting operations and internal reporting across the broader Business Development function.  This position will play a critical role in the continued success and evolution of Sapphire’s Portfolio Growth platform.

Responsibilities:

The Sr. Manager, Executive Network Development will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Cultivate and expand Sapphire’s community of enterprise technology executives via structured, repeatable, programmatic touchpoints, insightful content development, and relationship management
  • Shape the strategy and execute on outbound campaigns to drive inorganic network growth (via email, in-person conferences, etc.)
  • Oversee the calendar of go-forward Community aligned events and support the BD team on their successful execution
  • Assist in building strategic content tailored towards Community members, including newsletters and slide decks that highlight key technology trends impacting the enterprise
  • Develop a data taxonomy and approach to capturing and reporting on key BD team metrics
  • Produce concise, well-formatted reports and slide-decks to communicate BD outcomes internally, across the broader Sapphire Ventures organization
  • Manage the back-end systems supporting BD activities including CRMs, project mgmt. tooling, databases, shared calendars, etc.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 3-5 years of successful experience in business development, management consulting, or corporate strategy, ideally with direct exposure to enterprise scale operating environments
  • Confidence in navigating enterprise organizations and interfacing with C-level technology executives
  • Passion for networking and engaging with a diverse set of stakeholders, spanning verticals, job functions, regions, etc.
  • Understanding and passion for technology trends shaping the B2B SaaS and infrastructure ecosystems
  • Strong data and operational skills, with ability to develop concise and well-formatted reports and slide decks
  • Familiarity with back-office reporting systems including Affinity, Monday.com, Crossbeam (or technically inclined to learn quickly)
  • Highly entrepreneurial and independent achiever, who is passionate about Venture Capital and able to work effectively as part of a small but fast-paced, dynamic organization
