As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Global Private Banking Technology you serve in a leadership role by providing technical coaching and advisory for multiple technical teams, as well as anticipate the needs and potential dependencies of other functions within the firm. As an expert in your field, your insights influence budget and technical considerations to advance operational efficiencies and functionalities.
Job responsibilities
- Provide overall direction, oversight, and coaching for a team of entry-level to mid-level software engineers that work on basic to moderately complex tasks.
- Be accountable for decisions that influence teams' resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures.
- Ensures successful collaboration across teams and stakeholders.
- Guides and assists others in the areas of building appropriate level designs and gaining consensus from peers where appropriate.
- Collaborates with other software engineers and teams to design and implement deployment approaches using automated continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines.
- Collaborates with other software engineers and teams to design, develop, test, and implement availability, reliability, scalability, and solutions in their applications.
- Identifies and mitigates issues to execute a book of work while escalating issues as necessary.
- Provides input to leadership regarding budget, approach, and technical considerations to improve operational efficiencies and functionality for the team.
- Creates a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect for team members and prioritizes diverse representation,
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
- Experience working within a team where there is a focus on quality in the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including peer review, testing, and automated deployment into a cloud environment.
- Ability to create and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders throughout multiple lines of business within the firm.
- Experience with hands on Agile (such as team velocity, burndown, Say/do report)
- Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code written in with API First mentality, in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages.
- Proficiency in Java and UI development with experience in React or Angular, TypeScript, CSS, Micro Frontend Development, and JavaScript
- Experience in building creating publishers and consumers with Kafka, MQ or any other messaging platform.
- Automation experience with Cucumber / Automated Functional Testing, Test Driven Development (TDD) and agile tools e.g., JIRA
- Hands on experience as a software engineer with focus on customer facing journeys and modern agile software delivery practices such as Scrum, CI/CD Jules and DDD, and DevOps
- Experience leading teams of technologists.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Familiarity with container and container orchestration such as ECS, Kubernetes, and Docker
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team of technologists at office and capitalize on the benefits of in-person work for collaboration, networking, and overall company culture.
- Strong understanding of Agile methods; stakeholder management; budget management, risk management and operations
- Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent is preferred
