The Role:

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineering Manager to lead our Engineering Enablement team who are passionate about delivering software tools and platforms that accelerate developer velocity. This is a high impact role to define, shape, build and operate the tools and processes that enable developer velocity and innovation at SoFi. You will lead a team building and scaling the tools, frameworks and processes that enable engineers to build better and faster features every day. You will have opportunities to make a significant immediate impact and the long term success of the company while growing the team and your footprint at SoFi.

What You’ll Do:

  • Shape the strategic vision for developer tools, and platforms enabling our engineers and engineering teams to scale.
  • Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, providing guidance, support, and fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  • Define and communicate team objectives, set performance goals, conduct performance evaluations, and provide ongoing feedback and coaching.
  • Identify skill gaps within the team and coordinate training programs to enhance technical capabilities.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, professional growth, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality software solutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, goals, and deliverables, and create project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Allocate resources effectively, manage project priorities, and resolve conflicts to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Track and report project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to software development teams, promoting best practices, architectural standards, and code quality.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to ensure alignment and collaboration throughout the software development process.
  • Foster strong working relationships with cross-functional teams, promoting effective communication, coordination, and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate with other senior leaders to develop and execute strategies that drive operational excellence and improve software development practices.

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of proven leadership experience as a Software Development Manager or similar technical leadership role.
  • Deep expertise in software development, including proficiency in multiple programming languages (Python, Java, Kotlin, Go), and technologies for micro-services development in a cloud environment (AWS).
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and leading software development teams, with a track record of successfully delivering complex software projects and scaling their operational aspects.
  • Strong understanding of developer productivity engineering, infrastructure as code principles and tools.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate team members to achieve high performance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience leading a developer productivity organization and advancing AI assisted developer tools,  build systems, and CI/CD systems.
  • Experience working in a regulated tech industry, such as finance.

Compensation and Benefits

The base pay range for this role is listed below. Final base pay offer will be determined based on individual factors such as the candidate’s experience, skills, and location.
