The successful candidate will perform as Senior Manager-Show Control AV& Resort Wide Systems within Disneyland Resort's Global Engineering and Technology (GE&T) division. This person will be responsible for administratively and functionally managing a team of approximately 20 Controls Engineers and System Specialists. This team's charter is to execute new project work and support occasional sustainment efforts around Disneyland Resorts existing and incoming show focused industrial control systems. Administrative responsibilities include evaluating and reporting Cast performance, mentoring Cast in their professional growth, coaching and mentoring a reporting leader, developing project estimates and schedules and supporting the Integrated Facility and Planning (IFP) process.
The Senior Manager - Controls Engineer role is a Full-Time role based in Anaheim, CA, reporting to the Director, Global Engineering & Technology.
What You Will Do
Work with the Show/AV & Resort Wide team members at the Disneyland Resort to:
- Oversee and mentor cast members as they perform their roles of estimating, scheduling, job planning, designing, installing, testing, documenting, training, and sustaining hardware and software Control systems at the Disneyland Resort and other Disney parks. Plan team resources to maximize efficiency, taking advantage of individual skills while also planning to expand a resource's knowledge and depth.
- Serve as the primary interface for show control, audio-visual, and resort-wide systems relative to the Resort's annual Integrated Facility Program (IFP) development, including Planned Technical Obsolescence (PTO) efforts.
- Serve as the party responsible for representing and validating AV systems to the state of California every year while working with the resort quality engineering partners.
- Work closely with all lines of business partners to ensure attraction reliability and safety. Most notably, work with Engineering Services and Sustaining Engineering partners to ensure high attraction availability metrics.
- Serve as technical liaison to help inform and guide upper management.
- Stay current on industry trends and technological advances.
Required Qualifications & Skills
This is what you will need to be successful in the role:
- 10+ years in a technical role in support of designing, troubleshooting, and maintaining solutions around show-focused industrial control equipment and industrial networks.
- Strong understanding of software, computer systems and networking.
- Strong understanding of electronic principles, with an emphasis on DC power systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot electronic components and computer-based systems at the hardware, software, and system level.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to recognize/handle priority situations and resolve conflict within the team.
- Ability to read and understand integrated drawings packages, including design drawings, system drawings, software design documents, and technical manuals creation.
Preferred Qualifications
It would be helpful if you also had:
- Hands-on experience with theme park or industrial control systems with man-machine interface.
- Hands-on experience with PLCs and ladder logic programming.
- Hands-on experience with high order programming languages such as Python and structured text.
- Good working knowledge of Beckhoff Automation technology, including TwinCAT and EtherCAT.
- Good working knowledge of Tait Navigator control systems.
- Good working knowledge of audio concepts and controls, including processors, DSP, speakers, amplifiers, analog and digital audio.
- Good working knowledge of video concepts and controls, including CCTV cameras, monitors, projectors, media.
- Good working knowledge of networking principles.
- AUTOCAD skills, able to read schematic and assembly drawings.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in technical field (e.g. engineering) or substantial work experience in a related field.
- Preferred: Master's degree in engineering management or business administration.
- Preferred: Professional Engineering License in Electrical Engineering

The hiring range for this position in Anaheim, CA is $175,900.00 to $224,900.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
