Job Title: Senior Manager - Operational Risk & Compliance, CBA India
Location: Bengaluru - Manyata Tech Park
Business & Team: The Operational Risk & Compliance team is responsible for providing specialist Operational Risk and Compliance (OR&C) advice, assurance and acceptance/ approval of decisions made across the Technology, COO and Support Units at CBA India.
Impact & Contribution: The purpose of the role is to be a leader within the CBA India Risk Management function that supports COO and CBA India. Work with the Executive Manager to provide Line 2 independent services over Line 1 effective implementation of the Risk Management Approach, the Operational Risk and Compliance Management Frameworks, and actively uplift risk capability.
Roles & Responsibilities: You will be expected to perform the following tasks in a manner consistent with the Group’s Values of Care, Courage and Commitment
- Assist and support the Executive Manager Operational Risk - CBA India to execute the Line 2 team’s strategy to provide independent assurance and advice on Operational risks for CBA India.
- Lead, plan, execute and manage operational risk assurance deep dive reviews over operational risks and control areas.
- Lead investigation and assessment of emerging operational risks and control issues.
- Ensure robust operational risk governance through regular attendance and participation in onshore and offshore internal risk committees and governance forums, where relevant.
This role’s broader responsibilities will be:
- Working as part of a team of professional SMEs to provide independent, pragmatic and value adding Ops Risk advice, risk in change assessments, assurance and approval/acceptance for teams across the CBA India entity and the CBA India Program (in line with Line 2’s FAR accountabilities)
- Providing input to the Executive Manager into regulatory requirements, attestations, incident notification, regulatory change implementation and other matters as required under CBA’s internal frameworks, policies and governance.
- Ensure that appropriate polices and standards are enforced to enable safe and secure operational risk implementations.
- Contributing to the oversight and monitoring of key operational risks, controls, issues and incidents and risk acceptance.
- Supporting the appropriate identification, escalation and reporting of all related operational risk matters to the relevant stakeholders, including the relevant NFRCs, your EM/GM, and to the Technology and Operations GM.
- Work as part of a cross-skilled and curious team that can support a range of areas both analytically and commercially, speaking up and contributing to appropriate Line 2 oversight and challenge.
- Provide ideas for Line 2 risk management and assurance activities, analytics, and reporting. Contribute to a culture of learning and collaboration.
- Role model behaviors that are consistent with CBA values expectations and leadership principles. Provide a safe workplace for all team members, customers and visitors.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with stakeholders to become a trusted advisor through using commercial acumen, practical recommendations and assisting the business to understand where prioritized focus on key risk matters is required.
- Have a pragmatic approach ensuring compliance with the Operational Risk Management Frameworks while maximizing the benefit for the CBA India business.
- Develop good working relationship with key stakeholders across COO, BU/SU and Operational risk and compliance (Line 1) team and Line 2 & 3 Risk and Compliance.
- Adhere to the Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct sets the standards of behaviour, actions and decisions we expect from our people.
Essential Skills:
- 15+ years of experience in operational risk management
- Background in Operational Risk Management of Global Capability Centres (GCC), including Entity compliance & obligations management.
- Knowledge of applying industry best practices, implementing Risk & Control Self-Assessments, Key Risk Indicators, performing Compliance Self-Assessments, as per the operational risk management framework, standards, policies and procedures.
- Operational Risk Background in Enterprise Risk Management supporting Human Resources, Finance, Third-Party Suppliers, Business Resilience, Privacy, Cyber, and BU/SU Operations. Strong understanding of operational risks, and strategy to manage it, within financial services.
- Risk Mindset –All CommBank employees are expected to proactively identify and understand, openly discuss and act on current and future risks.
- A demonstrated self-starter with good attention to detail, the ability to adapt to changing business requirements.
- Excellent communication (verbal/written) and presentation skills – high quality communication skills, report writing, evidence gathering and data analysis capabilities.
- Ability to influence and communicate effectively with Senior Management. Ability to articulate operational risks and concepts to a diverse stakeholders.
- A curious and humble mindset, understanding of external trends and changes, interest in learning, to build risk management best practices
- Sound knowledge of industry standards and frameworks
Education Qualification:
- Bachelor's Degree/ Master's Degree in Laws or Bachelor’s degree/Master’s degree in Arts, Business Management, Business Administration
- Professional certifications such as CISA, CRISC
