Role Summary

The EMEA Client Team at Russell Investments is responsible for working with institutional and retail clients and prospects in Northern Europe, UK and Middle East, across a full range of services.

We are looking for a Senior Manager, to cover maternity, on a 12 month FTC. The role is expected to start in June 2025. The role will predominantly focus on assisting with the delivery of strategy, investment management and implementation services for client tasks assigned by the Head of Northern European Clients. Ultimately the position is expected to contribute to client retention and the evolution of the investment management proposition across the Northern European region.

The Senior Manager will be the liaison between the Head of Northern European Clients and the members of the EMEA Client Team, as well as various departments in the Investment Division including middle and back office functions such as operations, legal and product. The Senior Manager will work closely with the Head of Northern European clients and the team to deliver best in class client service to the portfolio of institutional clients. There may also be the possibility, in time, to take a lead role in managing clients.

Overall, the key parts of this role are to provide a continued client management service for existing clients and to protect and grow client revenue.

The responsibilities of the individual in this position include:

Client Relationship Management

  • Supporting the Head of Northern European (NE) clients and team in all aspects of NE client management including:

    • Preparation of client presentations

    • Delivery of customised reports

    • Preparation of responses to client queries

    • Liaising with the investment division and reporting team

    • Presenting to clients (if applicable)

  • Assisting the NE team to continue to build strong working relationship with clients and providing effective and timely responses to clients’ requests.

  • Managing workflow for regular and ad-hoc client deliverables.

  • The client base includes Northern European and UK institutional pension schemes, insurance clients and government agencies.

  • Assisting the EMEA and NE relationship management team to proactively plan and execute strategies to retain and expand client relationships.

  • Supporting and maintaining the existing relationships with clients, competitors, consultants, Russell CIOs, portfolio managers and business leads to help maintain Russell's market leading position for the EMEA and NE clients.

  • Continually improving the technical product as well our ability to position ourselves competitively.

Business growth and development

  • Supporting the NE and EMEA team to develop and implement business strategy focused on expanding relationships and growing the business through new client acquisition and new business opportunities across the region.

Underlying team management

  • Leading and managing direct reporting lines could be considered with the appropriate experience.

Other role specific duties

  • Helping supervise all functions outsourced to the middle office team, including client onboarding, audit queries, preparation and distribution of annual reports.

  • Providing support for internal project work.

  • Assisting senior members of the team in new client business development efforts if needed.

The successful candidate will have extensive demonstrable skills and experiences including the following:

  • Undergraduate / graduate degree or equivalent qualification / equivalent experience.

  • Previous experience working in a Client Service Management role within an Investment Management organisation or Pension Fund.

  • Open to consider someone at Manager level (rather than Senior Manager level) should other skills / experience align.

  • Knowledge of the investments and pensions industry in EMEA and Northern Europe including a broad understanding of the objectives, operations and regulatory requirements in an institutional investment environment.

  • Good knowledge and understanding of all major asset classes in investments.

  • Strong organisational skills and an ability to meet internal and external demands.

  • Effectively manages client expectations and delivers value-added service.

  • Builds working partnerships across the business and clients.

  • Anticipates and considers in advance the concerns and issues that are most important to the different stakeholders in client work.

  • Works effectively with people from a range of different backgrounds

  • Excellent communications skills (written and oral, including excellent telephone manner), interpersonal and presentation skills.

  • Knowledge of, and interest in, the global capital markets and how various stakeholders interact within them.

  • Strong Excel skills.

  • Excellent PowerPoint skills.

  • English and Dutch speaking/reading/writing, German speaking is a plus.
