Job Description
What's it all about?
The Data Analytics and Engineering senior manager will be part of an innovative Business Intelligence and Sales Tools Team within the VAS COO organization. The candidate manages a team of 6+ frontend BI and backend data engineering responsible for designing, developing and delivering automated database infrastructure, pipelines and integration, and dashboards that are leveraged by our sales teams, sales leaders, business partners, functional areas, businesses units and executives. This role requires a mix of people manager skills enabling productivity in an Agile environment and in depth technical knowledge. The candidate will need to learn business requirements and nuances, and translate into efficient data solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of 3+ frontend developers, working with business leaders across the Sales Organization to understand the needs and requirements of the business. Provide data-driven insights and results that address these requirements.
- Lead a team of 3+ backend developers, building and maintaining clean data sets, automate data workflow and integration tasks. Monitor and support production data warehouse.
- As single contributor:
- Implement and drive an operating mechanism to distribute work and ensure overall quality and timely delivery against roadmap.
- Collaborate with other senior leaders within Business Intelligence and Sales Tools Team to define priorities and ideate data solutions aligned to business needs.
- Establish a formal QA framework and operating rhythm, delivering quality assurance and peer testing procedures for both frontend and backend activities.
- Actively engage in understanding business needs and designing / implementing efficient data logic to stitch datasets across multiple data domains.
- Define and execute strategies to acquire additional datasets, and implement ongoing automated data pipelines into Hadoop data warehouse.
- Desing and implement data quality routines, making progress towards stablishing a monitoring engine that measures key quality rules and data standards, and triggers proactive performance alarms.
Qualifications
What we expect of you, day to day.
- 5+ years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or more than 2 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree leading a team of frontend and backend data developers.
- 3+ years of experience working in an environment and scope of responsibility that expands across regions.
- In depth knowledge of data warehouse design. Big data experience (Hive, Presto, Airflow, or other HDFS based) required. Needs to have experience taking large amounts of data and narrowing them down to more focused data sets.
- Experience with creating data driven business solutions and solving data problems using a wide variety of technologies such as Tableau Hadoop, MapReduce, Hive, Spark, as well as traditional data technologies like MySQL, RDBMS.
- Experience with both descriptive and predictive analytics methodologies, and the design / delivery of analytical products.
- Exposure to Data Governance and Data Quality concepts: data governance committee, data policies, data rules and data dictionary.
