JOB TITLE: Senior Manager Core Data Centres

SALARY: £83,411 - £98,130

LOCATION(S): Peterborough

HOURS: Full time

WORKING PATTERN: This position embraces agile working and is site based a minimum of 40% of the working week. To support onsite teams and handle critical incidents promptly, the candidate should be located near our core data centres. This may involve a senior onsite presence and availability 24x7.

About this opportunity

As a Senior Manager you are responsible for the overall 24x7 operational management of our Core Data Centre facilities located in Peterborough and Corby. Leading a high-performing team of approximately 40 colleagues who are dedicated to coordinating all aspects of data centre operations. This includes but not limited to the 24x7 onsite operational presence at each core Data Centre plus the management of all IT equipment and cabling infrastructure, installs, upgrades and decommissioning.

There is a significant focus on improving the Lloyds Banking Group Data Centres. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the successful delivery of the new Peterborough 4 Data Centre!

Key responsibilities:

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, reliability and cost-effectiveness.

  • Implement and maintain strong operational procedures and standard methodologies aligned with Group Standards.

  • Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

  • Proactively identify, assess and mitigate operational risks. Ensure service-related issues are resolved promptly and effectively.

  • Develop and maintain Health & Safety processes to ensure the safe working of all within Data Centres.

  • As Lead Business Incident Coordinator for Core Data Centres - Develop, implement and test plans.

  • ICAAP Scenario owner. Responsible for managing the review and publication of the annual report.

  • Responsible 24x7 for managing, addressing, and resolving critical incidents in the Data Centre.

  • Participate in regular risk assessments and audits to ensure compliance to minimise operational disruptions.

  • Develop and maintain the operational budget including the identification and implementation of cost-saving measures. Negotiate and maintain contracts with vendors and service providers.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers i.e. P&P & MITIE. Host tours of the Data Centres to showcase the critical facilities.

  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends related to data centre operations.

  • Evaluate and implement new technologies and solutions to improve operational efficiency that supports sustainability and enhances the service offering.

What you’ll need:

  • Demonstrable experience in data centre operations management

  • Experience in effectively leading and managing teams.

  • Thorough understanding of data centre infrastructure, including power, cooling, security and environmental systems.

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.

  • Effective communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.

  • Strong track record of working effectively under pressure and meeting deadlines.
