As a member of Maxar's IT leadership team, you'll be accountable for the staff, technology, operations and vendor relationships comprising our enterprise Virtualization, Storage and Platform teams. Collaborate with your team, fellow leaders, Architects and other SME's across the organization to establish and execute a strategic & technology vision that lines up closely with business needs while ensuring ongoing operational excellence of our platforms. You'll also work alongside project teams to support and coordinate the delivery of important initiatives supporting Maxar's mission. Finally, you'll help guide and grow your team through direct supervision responsibilities.
Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of Maxar's enterprise virtualization, storage and PaaS teams, including accountability for performance, configurations, repair and KPI's.
  • Assist your peers, the Senior Director of Infrastructure & Operations and the CIO in developing current and long-range business-aligned strategy for your platforms and people.
  • Lead the creation of policies, procedures, technical standards, methods and priorities relevant to your services.
  • Supervise and provide functional direction to your team.
  • Work with your team to analyze new technologies and make recommendations.
  • Effectively represent your team in meetings with vendors and other company divisions.
  • Perform related duties as required, including after-hours work.
  • Be willing to occasionally travel.


Requirements

  • 5+ years in a people leadership role.
  • Individual level experience and technical fluency with enterprise information technology platforms (past hands-on work in the trenches)
  • Broad knowledge of and experience with the general Information Technology discipline
  • Experience managing capital and operational budgets and playing a leading role in large sum negotiations
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to frame issues based on business implications rather than technical details
  • Ability to leverage understanding of strategy to independently drive progress, even with incomplete information
  • Mature time and resource management skills


Recommended qualifications:

  • Past experience with VMware, including VCF, vRA, and managing environments and enterprise scale that deliver a self-service experience in a hybrid cloud environment.
  • Exposure to Enterprise Storage platforms like NetApp NAS, Hitachi, Vast or equivalent.
  • Exposure to Kubernetes / K8s orchestration and related automated deployment patterns.
  • 7+ years managing technical engineering or operations teams.

The successful candidate's starting pay will fall within the salary range provided below and is determined based on job-related factors, including, but not limited to, the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, geographic work location, and market conditions. Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range.
• The base pay for this position within Colorado is: $129,000.00 - $215,000.00 annually.
For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
